drink another one.....he just had the worst qb performance in nfl play off history. this team needs to regroup and get rid of the players who aren't playing like professionals .jake was horrible . he has been like that in many games. there are thousands of players trying to make the pros . the organization has got rid of guys far better than him(kerry collins). nothing is going to change if jake plays next season. they will be lucky to win half their games.

I'm sorry, but if Steve wants to be the amazing WR that he can be, he'll need to stop defending Jake. Picture this, a QB that can hit Smith in stride....

Pretty sure he hit him in stride in the 2003 Divisional Playoffs against the Rams in overtime. ...I think???

Not a bad year for a guy coming back from TJ surgery... Bad game, yes. Bad year, no. TJ is a career ender for most.

To the moron who say smith is not as good without jake..... what the *** are you talking about. Is he better with jake than say D. carr, v. teste, m. moore? yes, but this is all we have seen. Imagine that world class reciever with a quarterback that can hit him in stride and not make him wait on the deep ball.... its sick to know how good this guy can be, he is being held back. I mean do you people watch jake play and then watch say umm 20 of the other 32 QBs in the league their is no comparison his fundamentals are terrible and his constant pump fakes and immobility is so bad. *** all you "jake until he retires people". If we can find a better QB then bring them in its time to move on. Yes, Steve Smith is going to defend him they are friends and Steve smith is a great teammate, much better than the other "diva" recievers out their. So, with that said Jake is second on the list that needs go behing trgo. Saturday was no fluke bad performance for trgo. He has been consistently terrible for some time now.

Two underperformers defending each other.

Agreed. Apparently here in Carolina we have the most fairweather fanbase in the NFL. Yeah, we got blown out in the playoffs and it sucks, but WE'RE GOING TO BE FINE. This team has too much character and too much talent to fall off the edge like everyone seems to think they will. We went 12-4 with Jake so I don't have any problem with him being our QB. The coaching staff just needs to learn to adjust (and it wouldn't be so bad if Trgo found a new job).

Just because people are pissed and want things to change doesn't mean they are fairweather fans. I proves we want to win. I think it would be much more of a problem if we were saying, "Hey, atleast we went 12-4".

I would just like to say as a Panther fan, I had a blast this season!! 12-4 and 8 wins at home, oh my god that was awesome!! With that said...

1. I think Jake is gonna be alot more accurate with his pases next year. Am I a Homer, NO. I just think with all the years he was playing with pain, with that gone and more strength its gonna take a while to get that back. He is getting up in the years and I would like to see a little more competition for the spot next training camp.

2. The coaching for the playoffs was TERRIBLE!. How do you abandon the run game when its tied? After the 2nd pick someone on the staff needed the balls to go to Jake and say we love ya but you know how this is gonna go from here. If he throws 2 picks he will throw at least 4. He doesnt ever recover in situations like that because of the pressure he feels to carry the load. We won alot of those 12 games by POUNDING the ball. Bad coaching there.

3. Turdgo has got to go. Our defense wasnt anywhere near ready to go and whos idea was it to put Larry Fitzgerald one on one? NOONE would leave Steve ONE on ONE. We didnt give him the respect he deserved and they made us pay for it.

4. I have 3 Peppers jerseys at home and I love the guy. Is he worth 100million? No, not in the least. When it matters I feel like he has been a let down and I really dont care how many sacks he had this year. Go back and watch the game and just watch his performance and you will see he gave up on several of those plays and was owned all day. He played with NO heart, none. We need another Leader for the DL, and as much as I love Peppers, He is not it.

5. We also need another WR thats a threat and when was the last time we threw a 10 yard pass to a tight end and not when we need 15 yards for the first? We have 3 tightends that could be great if given the chance.

Do I think the sky is falling and this team will be 8-8 nexy year? No we have a great young team and we will be a force if we can get a few things done and it wouldnt hurt to get another cornerback that could cover someone other than my grandmother and she is dead.

I love you Panthers and even if you had went 1-15 I would still love you. It was a great season and Im already jonesing for next year. Is the combine here yet?

Where's that rep button. Consider yourself repped!

I am ashamed of you, ROFL you cant see through that?

You seriously think everything is all hunky-dory?

Wow how gullible and naive some of YOU are.

This team isn't going to just come out to the media and spout out. They don't really like the media.

Smith is being held back by Jake, the team is being held back by poor coaching.

So you think Smitty is just full of it? yeah I would love to see you tell that to Smitty's face. lol.

The point is, this quote should sing the praise of what a great teammate Smitty is. Instead everyone still is rambling on about "bench Jake, fire the coaching, etc." Your exact comments are what he is trying to prevent! What would other team killing superstar WRs be doing in this situation? Can you imagine what TO would have said after this game? Smitty should be praised, not attacked.

shameful, seriously.

you aren't alone.

Everyone is zeroing in on Jake because he was the most obvious problem with the game. It is unfortunate, because, IMO, it is unfair and uninformed... The problem at QB is far from the most significant issue with the Panthers. The whole mess starts at the top-- coaching. Jake had the worst game of his career, and that game unfortunately happened in the most visible game- the playoffs.

Fire Jake, and you are asking for 7-9 all over again.

It sucks that Jake had a terrible game, but if the players still stand behind him him, and if the coaches still stand behind him him, then I, too, stand behind him.

Trgovac.. on the other hand...

Quality post right here. I agree 100%.

If the players still stand behind Jake, then Jake should come back. We're not going to be able to get anyone remotely as talented as Jake in the draft, and nobody will be available in free agency.

Unless you guys are sold on Josh McCown or Matt Moore, then ok...but I'm not. Jake needs to be back.

Note: Any post containing suggestions of The Golden Calf of Bristol, Matt Cassel, etc might as well be invisible. I may read it for laughs though.

I find it funny how people defend Delhomme for so many years. He cost us NFCC game in 2005, everyone blame it on a running game. Fact was that Seattle triple covered Smitty and Jake kept forcing the ball to him which was interecepted 3 times. Cardinals had the same game plan and it worked again. Delhomme is not a great QB and he folds under the pressure way to easy. He is also 34 so if you think he can improve you need stop drinking that kool-aid cause he wont improve. Delhomme problem is he struggles in reading defences, its hard to improve that. Why you think Matt Ryan did so great, Brees or Manning? They read defences and adjust, Delhomme was never good at reading defences thats why he cost us Arizona game. If you think he can improve, you're wrong... He will be the same Delhomme he always was, not much to improve when you are 34.

Delhomme cost us last 2 playoff games... a fact.
