Smitty discusses Delhomme, season

What do you expect Smith and other team mates to do? Throw their teammates under a bus? No, you hardly ever see a player do that unless his name is Terrell Owens.

Get real people.... Steve Smith is pissed and mad that the season ended like this and the way Jake played. If you couldn't tell that by the look on Smiths face throughout the game, then take off those rose glasses. They just wont let anyone know through the media that they are pissed. ITS HOW IT WORKS.

When we brought David Carr in, do you think it was so we can have a good backup? No, it was because the Panthers thought maybe he had some potential and a possible better option. Obviously Carr fell flat on his face. Time to try again.

I am ashamed to be attributed to the same fanbase that can post comments like that about such a great quote by Smitty.

I am ashamed of you, ROFL you cant see through that?

You seriously think everything is all hunky-dory?

Wow how gullible and naive some of YOU are.

This team isn't going to just come out to the media and spout out. They don't really like the media.

Smith is being held back by Jake, the team is being held back by poor coaching.

Smith knows what is best for Smith.

If he wanted to catch passes thrown by a different QB, then either he'd leave, or he would be saying some different things about Jake.

..and I thought we had a very loyal fanbase... wow... everyone flakes off after one bad game...

I don't know what is more depressing.. the actual game last night or some of the "fans" comments on this forum...

I am sorry that everyone gave in to the illusions of grandeur... this is what complete overly optimistic homerism leads to... there were a thousand ways the team could have not made the Super Bowl... it is just unlucky that a playoff game had to be the domino that fell first.

Maybe this loss will teach us as a fanbase to consider a bit more moderation in the season- don't get too high on the wins, or too low on the losses. There is a great deal of plasticity (is that the right word?) in the NFL... nothing is for sure, anything can happen.

I still think these things happen for a reason... lets hold off the doom and gloom until there is actually some doom and gloom to speak of.

Loyal to what shitty players? You serious?

If your talking loyal to the team, then that is exactly why we are upset.

We want whats best for the team, and that damn sure isn't Turd or Jake.

But hell no I'm not loyal to any player, Team first.

I hear the Eagles bandwagon is open for new members...

Agreed. Apparently here in Carolina we have the most fairweather fanbase in the NFL. Yeah, we got blown out in the playoffs and it sucks, but WE'RE GOING TO BE FINE. This team has too much character and too much talent to fall off the edge like everyone seems to think they will. We went 12-4 with Jake so I don't have any problem with him being our QB. The coaching staff just needs to learn to adjust (and it wouldn't be so bad if Trgo found a new job).

^^^^ I am optimistic... There are a lot of good things going right with our team.. and many great things that happened that will hopefully carry over into next season.

If the Falcons (of all teams) can go from where they were a year- 2 years ago to playoffs, then there is no reason why the Panthers can't do even better next year than they did this year.

I'm sure that #3 overall pick had nothing to do with it.

I would just like to say as a Panther fan, I had a blast this season!! 12-4 and 8 wins at home, oh my god that was awesome!! With that said...

1. I think Jake is gonna be alot more accurate with his pases next year. Am I a Homer, NO. I just think with all the years he was playing with pain, with that gone and more strength its gonna take a while to get that back. He is getting up in the years and I would like to see a little more competition for the spot next training camp.

2. The coaching for the playoffs was TERRIBLE!. How do you abandon the run game when its tied? After the 2nd pick someone on the staff needed the balls to go to Jake and say we love ya but you know how this is gonna go from here. If he throws 2 picks he will throw at least 4. He doesnt ever recover in situations like that because of the pressure he feels to carry the load. We won alot of those 12 games by POUNDING the ball. Bad coaching there.

3. Turdgo has got to go. Our defense wasnt anywhere near ready to go and whos idea was it to put Larry Fitzgerald one on one? NOONE would leave Steve ONE on ONE. We didnt give him the respect he deserved and they made us pay for it.

4. I have 3 Peppers jerseys at home and I love the guy. Is he worth 100million? No, not in the least. When it matters I feel like he has been a let down and I really dont care how many sacks he had this year. Go back and watch the game and just watch his performance and you will see he gave up on several of those plays and was owned all day. He played with NO heart, none. We need another Leader for the DL, and as much as I love Peppers, He is not it.

5. We also need another WR thats a threat and when was the last time we threw a 10 yard pass to a tight end and not when we need 15 yards for the first? We have 3 tightends that could be great if given the chance.

Do I think the sky is falling and this team will be 8-8 nexy year? No we have a great young team and we will be a force if we can get a few things done and it wouldnt hurt to get another cornerback that could cover someone other than my grandmother and she is dead.

I love you Panthers and even if you had went 1-15 I would still love you. It was a great season and Im already jonesing for next year. Is the combine here yet?

you aren't alone.

Everyone is zeroing in on Jake because he was the most obvious problem with the game. It is unfortunate, because, IMO, it is unfair and uninformed... The problem at QB is far from the most significant issue with the Panthers. The whole mess starts at the top-- coaching. Jake had the worst game of his career, and that game unfortunately happened in the most visible game- the playoffs.

Fire Jake, and you are asking for 7-9 all over again.

It sucks that Jake had a terrible game, but if the players still stand behind him him, and if the coaches still stand behind him him, then I, too, stand behind him.

Trgovac.. on the other hand...

Glad to see there is still some reason in our fan base
