Bengals are expected to show interest in QB Tony Pike if cut

I considered that, but most of the sportswriters and Huddle members who have visited training camp have said Pike looks horrible and Cantwell looks much improved over last year.

exactly, higher value, they hope to not need either one any time soon, so they put it out there that Cantwell is playing better than Pike and Clausen and see if they have any bites

I'd definitely do it for a WR trade, but how often have we done player-for-player trades?

So, I hope we either cut Cantwell and try to stash him on the PS again and keep Pike as the 3rd, OR put Pike on the IR. I just think he's got too much potential to let him go out right.

If our media hadn't of made such a big deal about Cantwell we might have been able to stash him on the practice squad. Barring a "Mystery" injury someone is gonna snag either Cantwell or Pike if we try to put him on the practice squad.

I say let Cantwell start second team. Let him show off a little and try to trade him. Clausen is going to be #2 anyhow so might as well try and get something for Cantwell. I believe he will bring a better value to us then Pike.

Go Panthers

This is all just random sports-writer speculation. No one within Cincy's organization would leak that they are interested in Pike- think if someone in the Panther's FO leaked that the Panthers liked MM back when he was with Dallas?

I dont think any info needs to be leaked. Its no secret that Bengals need a back up QB.Pike fits the bill and has a lot of potential

For goodness sakes he was a six rounder. We were determined to fix the passing game and did what we have done in year's past when we went out to fix a problem. We brought in a bunch of cheap guys in order to find a few that actually work out. Pike won't cost us much besides the 6th round draft pick and we likely picked him up in the first place because we didn't know how everyone will work out and still don't. In 2008 Moore broke his leg in the preseason and was on IR for the year. Things like that could happen this year as well. Lets wait until the end of preseason to get all concerned or pissed off about a wasted pick.

It isn't bad enought we have the chicken littles, now we have the people running around all angry and pissed off about things that haven't happened and still might not.
