I just don't see him being put on the practice squad. The FO drafted him knowing he is a project with big upside. I'm not so sure he wouldn't be snatched up by another team. Imagine two bruisers with speed like Lafell and Gettis stretching the field and blocking for the backs.

THIS! We have to be thinking about the future. Gettis has the physical tools to develop into a #1 WR. Smitty has enough tread left on his tires to give us time to mold him for the job. It just doesn't seem smart to take a chance on him getting away. We can carry 6 wide outs because we don't need two FBs. Sutton or Rosario can play the back up role for that position.

he will stay on the team if he knocks someone out as a gunner on a kickoff..ala Terrell Davis(his tackle he made his rookie preseason) style..that would get him on the roster more then a big catch against 3rd stringers.

I honestly don't see this guy on the team. There will have to be an injury to LaFell, Edwards, Wright, Moore, and/or DJ for him to make final roster cuts. I think he will be waived and another team picks him up. Seems like when I watched them practice he was getting yelled at by the WR coach than anyone else.

With Smitty, LaFelle, Moore (playing well), Edwards, and Wright (ST Ace) as pretty much locks...I only see 6 WR's being kept on roster. It is down to Gettis and Jarrett in my opinion.

I've liked what I have seen and heard from the kid thus far. I think it would be a good investment to keep the kid around. Seems to have a much better head and willingness to learn than some other receivers we have kept on the roster.

Too bad for him Baylor was a running offense. He never really got to develop to his full potential as a reciever. Now the question is: will the Panthers have enough time and patience to see him catch up???

I think if he lit it up in pre-season the coaching staff would look for a way to keep him.

I can't imagine they're not inventing ways to keep him now. He has all the potential in the world. He's just going to take time to realise it.
