Outsider Looking In.....

i actually think they'll go 11-5, despite all the negative vibes people are trying to throw at 'em. and the panthers are better off with Fox than without him. he knows how to win, he just hasn't had the right team yet. i'm hoping this is the right team though. would've been better if we could've gotten Moore under center before Pep left.

I think we end up missing Fox when he is gone.

He has Tony Dungy Syndrome written all over him.

Of course if that means we win a Superbowl a year after he is gone then yay us.

That would be very ironic especially if Fox left and we hired Gruden.

Deja vu all over again as Yogi Berra would say.

Well, a well informed person would say that this team has been building through the draft for some time now, and, even though they have not necessarily heard of the players stepping into starting roles, that it doesn't necessarily mean that they are bad players.

Unfortunately, they aren't many well informed people out there.

Most people think this is a garbage team this year that will struggle to win 4 games. Then against most people who aren't fans don't have a clue about this team.

OUTSIDER LOOKIN IN: "you guys don't have anybody, jake delhomme is washed up. they need to get rid of him"

ME: "jakes been gon....you know what....this conversation is going absolutley no where....i need another beer"

thats how my summer football conversations have been with non panther fans

If I was an outsider I would honestly refer to us as the team who used to have Delhomme & Peppers. The media doesn't advertise the Panthers well and most fans of other teams prolly just know Smith, Beason, & Clausen at the top of their head when you mention the Cats

I am in the minority thinking that we will do 11 wins or more this season. A lot has been made of the D-Line and it will go far in determining just how far we will go. However, I also think that with this year's schedule and our O-Line that deficiencies in our defense can be effectively masked by a stellar running game. If it has enough time to gel and latch onto a good enough interior of the line, our D can be good enough to take us far.

As far as the future goes, I am concerned. As an outsider to the organization, what I see is 15 members of the coaching staff in the final year of their contracts. The organization is playing a very dangerous game of "wait and see" while the clock is actually against them when it comes to the labor agreement.

I don't see anything getting settled before the season's end. At that time, Fox and Co won't be waiting around to see what the Panthers organization will decide on doing. If we want to remain competitive for the coming years, the organization needs to suck it up and lock this staff into a long-term deal. Otherwise, we will TRULY be in a rebuilding mold when the coaching staff is in that much upheaval.

fwiw, saints fans down here on the bayou were pissed that we got clausen..their thoughts were, "all carolina needed was a qb, now, with their running game we're probably effed." But then again, i wish it was that simple.

I live with a die hard Saints fan and I think he is still having a hard time beleiving his team actually won and that their success will continue. I guess after wearing bags on your heads for so long its hard to accept success.

Honestly I don't know why the outsiders would have an opinion when most the insiders don't have have a clue.

I think everyone looks at starters in the NFL and fails to realize how important depth is, special teams, kicking, all the little factors when assesing a team that is sitting in the middle of their division.
