Rotoworld thinks Thomas Howard would be a good fit

Hes a good player and Oakland doesn't make the best decisions when it comes to choosing their guys. I would pick him up if the price was right and move Beason back where he belongs. Will Thomas Davis ever play again? Do you want Beason to be a permanent WLB? If not then put him back where he belongs if a good replacement could be had which is what Howard would be. So yeah for the right price I'd be interested to see what he could do here.

This. How many years did they take off of Davis career by moving him around, before leaving him at the position he was best at? Beason is one of, if not THE best MLB in football, leave him there. Maybe we could trade Pike, we ain't carrying 4 QBs.

Even if the panthers were to aquire him, he wouldn't make the starting squad unless there is an injury.

Before ya attempt to respond, keep in mind all our starting linebacks have been in this system since they were drafted. The only way our starting line up at linebacker changes, is injury.

Sure. Lets make sure we sign him up to play Will linebacker. I am sure he will be an upgrade to Beason.

Why does every guy released end up being mentioned as a good fit here. Particularly since we have been so active in the free agent market this year.

Sarcasm off...........................................

1.He has not been released.

2.Its just talk to pass the time calm down

3.This guy specialty is coverage and would be a fit here.

we are thin at LB now that Davis is hurt. I think the FO should consider any legit situation to add depth there since our D-line is still up in the air, the LB's have their work cut out for them this year.

I got no problem w/ beason going back to mike and letting someone else try out for a spot at the will. its not like beason needs an entire camp to get used to the MLB position. so its got to be worth checking into

he currently has a 1 year deal for less than 2 million, why not at this point? he is cheaper than the last depth guy we signed in landon johnson. if he blows he is gone prior to the lockout, if he is good, he is still a FA and you can sign him to a new deal post CBA changes. also a good LB in stout unit out in oakland. people assume oakland is a crappy team, but they had 1 hell of a defense, and an offense that let that defense down game after game.

as a depth peice it makes sense to get a vet in here atleast as a backup, and a tallent loaded guy to maybe push for the starting role (moving beason back to MLB).

1. We would never trade for him.

2. This is the 100th thread about picking someone else's player up.

3. If coverage is his specialty then how come he can't make Oakland's second team nickel package. That suggests he is very poor in coverage.

As cheap as we have gone all year you could have stopped right after he has a one year deal for less than 2 million. We got rid of Johnson and Diggs over money so why bring in a guy, lose a draft pick and have him sit the bench when he couldn't make the second team nickel package. he isn't even the 5th or 6th best linebacker on that team.
