Charlotte Media Wants Clausen To Fail

Jimmy Clausen playing does mean the Panthers suck or he would never see the field. Anyone who doesn't root for the starting quarterback to have a great year is surely no Panther fan. And lastly someone who wants an unproven rookie to start over a proven veteran who has won 3/4 of the games he has started, obviously is a fan of Clausen not the team.

Based on the above comments, we agree totally.

I love this line. You are either a Matt Moore fan or you aren't a Panthers fan.

There must be a lot of Sam Bradford fans in St. Louis and not Rams/Feeley fans.

Lots of Stafford fans and not Lions/Culpepper fans.

Lots of.. you get the picture how ridiculous this sounds.

You obviously don't get it. I wasn't that crazy about Moore and still have my reservations but the bottom line is he is our starting quarterback. As such I will support him as long as he plays. If he is replaced by Clausen or Cantwell then i will support them 100% as well.

Why?

Because our future is tied to the quarterback and whoever that is will determine our success.

People who want Bradford to start over Feeley before the season starts are Bradford fans not Ram fans. Fans who want both of them to do well and may the best man win and start are Ram fans.

The differences between their situation and our is numerous. Feeley doesn't have a winning record as a starter, Bradford is getting 70 million to play and the list goes on. There is a big difference between playing your announced starter who earned it on the field last year versus playing either a backup who you signed, or a rookie who you drafted. St Louis can afford to have a 3-13 season this year while Fox can't nor would fans be satisfied with that.

I can't want Clausen to start and still be a Panthers fan? I want him to start, but I want him to earn it. I truly believe that he gives them a better chance to win in the long haul.

I think it is obvious I am not sold on Moore. I think it is a joke to call him proven for the time being as well. He has 8 career starts, that is half a season. He has less then 2000 career yards, 4 fumbles, 11 career touchdown passes to 7 interceptions.

His completion percentage last season sandwiches him between Kyle Orton and David Garrard. Middle of the pack. His career completion percentage would have put him at 22 of 32 for last season. I think we may need to define proven better because its just 8 starts total, and they didn't ask him to really take over games where defenses were game planning for him. The other teams will continue to plan for the running attack.

Is "proven" now just game managing for half of a season? Is Vince Young proven in this league? Is the Sanchize proven? Brady Quinn? If Clausen gets 8 starts over the span of the next three years like Moore has, will that make Clausen proven?

Moore is still mostly an unknown. They asked him to fill in and manage some games last season at the end of the year and he did a nice job but do we really know he will perform like that again this upcoming season now that defenses will have to plan to stop him as well? We shall see.

OK you convinced me. Let's call the Panthers and tell them to just put Jimmy in now, because it is inevitable. Why wait and see him play? That is just a waste of time.

Jimmy! Jimmy! Jimmy!

You must have missed the spot where I said I wanted him to earn it. The main points were that it should be earned, and that Moore is still unproven. You missed it.

If you want Clausen to start you can be a Panther fan, sure, but a dumb football fan. Rookie QBs who were drafted in the first round and start have about a 50% chance to bust. History should tell you that bringing a QB along slowly is the way to go, so why would you want to increase Clausen's chance to fail? You have Moore and he is a young vet with experience. His QB rating is about 89 and he is 6-2, 4-1 last year. What is wrong with that?

Recent history tells us different. Stafford has a nice shot at being good for a long time. Ryan is going to be just fine. Sanchize helped his team get deep into the playoffs last season and he couldn't have got any worse. Neither of the Mannings or Roethlisberger seem to be struggling.

A dumb football fan is a closed minded fan, who just assumes that every situation is the same for a rookie quarterback. Its not. They say the same thing for college football. Freshman QBs should redshirt and not play their first year. Clausen didn't redshirt, went on to earn the starting job, and played just fine. Not all people are the same.

This team has plenty of weapons to help a rookie QB out. You seem like the type of guy who a few years ago claimed that a wildcat formation could never work in the NFL, then had to open your mind to the fact that when deployed correctly it can be a dangerous formation.

This is the absolute best example of a double standard.

In 2009, if you liked Jake, who was our PROVEN STARTING QB, who took us to a Super Bowl, you weren't a Panthers fan. You were a Jake homer. If you liked him you were subjected to ridicule on here, unless you really liked Matt Moore, the guy who won 2 of 3 career games and was completely unproven.

In 2010, if you DON'T like Moore, who is still largely unproven, you aren't a Panthers fan. You HAVE to support the starting QB, but you didn't have to with Jake. Now if you like Clausen, you're not a Panthers fan. This is ridiculous, making fun of people because they want Clausen to succeed. I like Moore and Clausen.

But there are too many BMJS (Blind Moore Jock Sniffers) on here. Just wait until he has a bad game, it'll be the O-Line's fault, or Fox's fault. If Clausen throws an incompletion, it'll be all his fault. Seriously just be fair. Is it that hard?

For all the QBs that you mentioned there were just as many busts. By your own admission we do have plenty of weapons to help a QB out. Fox has already stated that Moore will be the starter and the only way that changes is what happens in preseason games. So its pointless to continue this stupid thread about Moore vs Clausen.

    • Introduction The human gut is a complex and dynamic environment that plays a critical role in overall health and well-being. One of its primary functions is to absorb nutrients from food, providing the body with essential vitamins, minerals, and other compounds necessary for growth, energy, and repair. However, various factors can compromise gut health, leading to decreased nutrient absorption and potential deficiencies. Gut health supplements have emerged as a popular solution, promising to enhance nutrient absorption and improve digestive health. This article explores how these supplements work, the types available, and their mechanisms in supporting nutrient absorption. Understanding Nutrient Absorption The Digestive Process Nutrient absorption begins in the mouth, where enzymes in saliva start breaking down carbohydrates. As food moves through the esophagus to the stomach, it undergoes further digestion through mechanical and chemical processes. In the small intestine, the real magic happens. Here, nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream through the intestinal lining, which is lined with villi and microvilli that increase surface area. Factors Affecting Nutrient Absorption Gut Health: A healthy gut lining is crucial for nutrient absorption. Conditions like leaky gut syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) can compromise the intestinal barrier and reduce nutrient uptake. Dietary Factors: The types of foods consumed significantly influence absorption. A diet low in fiber or high in processed foods can negatively impact gut flora and absorption. Medications: Some medications, such as proton pump inhibitors and certain antibiotics, can interfere with nutrient absorption. Age: As individuals age, digestive efficiency may decline, affecting nutrient absorption. Hydration: Adequate water intake is necessary for proper digestion and absorption. Gut Health Supplements: Types and Mechanisms 1. Probiotics What They Are Probiotics are live microorganisms that provide health benefits when consumed in adequate amounts. They are often referred to as “good bacteria” and are essential for maintaining a balanced gut microbiome. Mechanisms of Action Restoring Gut Flora: Probiotics help restore balance to gut bacteria, which is crucial for optimal digestion and nutrient absorption. An imbalanced microbiome can lead to dysbiosis, negatively impacting absorption. Enhancing Nutrient Bioavailability: Certain probiotic strains can improve the bioavailability of nutrients, making them easier for the body to absorb. For instance, they can assist in breaking down complex carbohydrates and increasing the absorption of vitamins like B12 and K. Improving Gut Barrier Function: Probiotics strengthen the intestinal lining and promote the integrity of tight junctions, reducing the risk of leaky gut syndrome. A healthy gut barrier allows for better nutrient uptake. 2. Prebiotics What They Are Prebiotics are non-digestible fibers that serve as food for beneficial gut bacteria. They help promote the growth of probiotics and maintain a healthy gut microbiome. Mechanisms of Action Feeding Beneficial Bacteria: By nourishing probiotics, prebiotics support a thriving gut microbiome, which can enhance nutrient absorption. Increasing Short-Chain Fatty Acids (SCFAs): Fermentation of prebiotics by gut bacteria produces SCFAs, which have several benefits, including promoting gut health and enhancing nutrient absorption. SCFAs can improve the absorption of certain minerals, like calcium and magnesium. 3. Digestive Enzymes What They Are Digestive enzymes are proteins that help break down food components into smaller, absorbable nutrients. They include amylase (for carbohydrates), protease (for proteins), and lipase (for fats). Mechanisms of Action Improving Digestion: Digestive enzyme supplements can help those with insufficient enzyme production, leading to better breakdown of food and more efficient nutrient absorption. Reducing Bloating and Gas: By improving digestion, these enzymes can alleviate symptoms such as bloating and discomfort, allowing for a more efficient nutrient absorption process. 4. L-Glutamine What It Is L-glutamine is an amino acid that serves as a primary fuel source for the cells lining the intestines. Mechanisms of Action Supporting Intestinal Health: L-glutamine helps maintain the integrity of the gut lining, promoting optimal nutrient absorption. Enhancing Gut Barrier Function: By repairing the gut lining, L-glutamine can prevent leaky gut syndrome, allowing for better nutrient uptake. 5. Omega-3 Fatty Acids What They Are Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fats found in fish oil and certain plant oils, known for their anti-inflammatory properties. Mechanisms of Action Reducing Inflammation: Chronic inflammation can impair nutrient absorption. Omega-3s help reduce gut inflammation, which can enhance absorption efficiency. Supporting Gut Integrity: Omega-3s may also promote a healthy gut lining, facilitating better nutrient uptake. 6. Zinc What It Is Zinc is an essential mineral important for various bodily functions, including immune response and enzyme activity. Mechanisms of Action Supporting Gut Barrier Function: Zinc plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the gut lining, which is vital for optimal nutrient absorption. Enhancing Digestive Enzyme Activity: Zinc is necessary for the synthesis of several digestive enzymes, promoting better breakdown and absorption of nutrients. 7. Fiber Supplements What They Are Fiber supplements, such as psyllium husk or inulin, add bulk to the diet and support digestive health. Mechanisms of Action Promoting Regularity: Adequate fiber intake helps maintain regular bowel movements, which is essential for efficient nutrient absorption. Feeding Beneficial Bacteria: Soluble fiber acts as a prebiotic, nourishing gut bacteria and enhancing overall gut health, leading to improved nutrient absorption. The Importance of a Holistic Approach While gut health supplements can significantly improve nutrient absorption, they work best when combined with a holistic approach to gut health. This includes: 1. Dietary Modifications A balanced diet rich in whole foods, fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and lean proteins is crucial for optimal gut health. Minimizing processed foods, sugars, and unhealthy fats can prevent dysbiosis and promote nutrient absorption. 2. Hydration Adequate hydration is essential for digestion and absorption. Water helps dissolve nutrients and facilitates their transport across the intestinal lining. 3. Stress Management Chronic stress can disrupt gut function and impair absorption. Practices such as mindfulness, yoga, and regular exercise can help mitigate stress and improve gut health. 4. Regular Physical Activity Exercise promotes gut motility and can enhance digestion and absorption. Aim for a mix of aerobic and strength-training exercises for overall health. 5. Sleep Hygiene Quality sleep is vital for overall health, including gut health. Poor sleep can exacerbate digestive issues and hinder nutrient absorption. Potential Considerations and Cautions 1. Individual Variability Not all supplements work for everyone. Individual responses can vary based on factors such as genetics, current gut health, and specific nutrient needs. 2. Quality of Supplements Choosing high-quality supplements from reputable manufacturers is crucial. Supplements can vary in potency, purity, and efficacy. 3. Consultation with Healthcare Providers Before starting any supplement regimen, it’s advisable to consult a healthcare provider. They can offer personalized recommendations based on individual health needs and conditions. Conclusion Gut health supplements can play a significant role in improving nutrient absorption by supporting gut integrity, restoring balance to gut flora, and enhancing digestive function. Probiotics, prebiotics, digestive enzymes, L-glutamine, omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, and fiber supplements all contribute to a healthier gut environment, facilitating the efficient uptake of essential nutrients. However, supplements should be viewed as part of a comprehensive approach to gut health that includes dietary modifications, hydration, stress management, regular exercise, and quality sleep. By taking proactive steps to enhance gut health, individuals can improve their overall nutrient absorption and well-being, paving the way for a healthier, more vibrant life.
