Game plan criticism from an odd source

Not only abandoning the run but sh*t like sending Moose on a deep route?

Ugh.

I will never understand why we keep sending Moose, who has never been known as a "speed" receiver, on deep routes. WTH is that all about? I can only think of two occassions where this worked out, both were trick plays with the lucky catch in NY and the catch and fumble in GB.

Davidson stuck with the run, he ran the normal amount Delhomme just didn't protect the ball.

The Cardinals sold out against the run on the first few downs, got us in 3rd and long, and we never converted, mostly cause of turnovers.

If Jake doesn't turn the ball over we could have stuck with the gameplan.

I think if you secretly polled the team, they'd all say wtf? It's impossible for everyone in the world to see that all we had to do was run the ball and cover Fitzgerald and yet we did exactly the opposite.

...by the way, it was just reported on the radio that Delhomme threw yet another interception this morning.

I hope he has all the chidrens he wants already, because i don't think can hit poo anymore with a positive outcome.

But as I've said several times over, there was no fluidity to the game he called. Our offense never established a flow. Jake would've been better off throwing the ball out of bounds everytime he dropped back with the game that was called. It was predictable to anyone that watched the game what we were going to do. And the times we passed when they thought we would run didn't matter because our routes may have been designed in crayon. Wait, I won't even give them that much creative credit... They're simple to say the least.

Davidson has done great things for the run game, but he definitely needs to improve his passing plays and play calling. Look at Pittsburgh's play book, always run heavy, but always has a wrinkle or creative hitch to keep opponents off balance. And BTW, if you watched their game, notice how many WRs they keep active (more than us) and their use of tight sets such as tight trips... We should take notes.

Agree on Pitt's looks. Which is my biggest beef on both sides of the balls. At the very LEAST, show some different looks that make a team adjust.

The Panthers put King out wide and AZ didn't flinch.

On 5 consecutive drives on 1st down the Panthers passed. Two were picks.

It just doesn't make sense. How many of us groan during the live game threads of running on 1st down?

Heck, if you are going to pass on 1st, do a high% pass like a screen. Bring in the rush, dump it off and let your stud rb's do some damage. Worse case it goes a few yards and keeps the O on the field.

Just so many things to point to that make you scratch your head.

No one complains if Jake completes those passes and loosens the defense, instead he throws dumbass passes. Nothing tricky about the coverage, at all.

After reading around about the game and Arizona's preperation it appears they knew exactly what we were going to do. They added a new play for Fitz to run against our soft zone and he gained 40 yards on it. They also added a wrinkle to their red zone defense because they saw a tendency in Jake that lead to Delhomme's 2nd quarter pick. After reading this stuff it makes seem like we were so outclassed in coaching that only perfect execution would have given us a chance.

You guys are reading Hoover's statment wrong, he said we COULD have IF we didnt get in such hole. He's not questioning the coach or saying we should have

Did we get away from it to quick? Maybe, but when the opponent scores on five consecutive drives, and your defence show no signs of stopping it, running doesnt look all that good.

    • Where did I once say we should draft him because he's a projected Top 5 pick?   That's one of my many problems with you, your reading comprehension skills are very poor (and/or you just don't care to use your brain, one of the two).  I solely used that to point out that me pushing T-Mac isn't some absurd homerism, that at least I'm pushing someone who is deserving of a Top 5 draft pick. And despite me explaining it to you numerous times, you still seem to not grasp how QB's get placed in mock drafts vs draft grades.  They are treated entirely different in mock drafts to any other position, because of how teams generally treat them in the draft because of how important the position is. Literally any other position except QB, mock drafts generally follow draft grades with some team needs factored in.  But with QB's, draft grades are generally disregarded and they ALWAYS put a few QB's at the very top of the draft, because that's just usually what happens.  The exact same thing happened in 2022 with guys like Pickett and Willis widely being Top 10 picks in mock drafts, only for Pickett to fall to what, around 20?, and Willis going in the 2nd round (and even being the 3rd QB if I remember correctly too). The overwhelming majority of draft experts are saying there isn't a high first round grade on these QB's, but they still get mocked there because they're trying to predict how the draft will actually go. That's been my point the entire time, reaching for a QB in a bad QB draft when you have a roster as depleted of talent as ours, does not tend to work out well. And I've never said I'm not open to other players, I've very explicitly said that if a QB or DE stands out come draft time, I'm open to that discussion.  That I'd be open to Hunter as a CB but I prefer a WR over a CB at the top of the draft.  But we're also not talking about the 15th pick here where there could realistically be all sorts of possible picks to discuss.  With the first pick, there really would only be a small handful of options, T-Mac is head and shoulders above any other given our current roster and state of the franchise in general.
    • TMac is good, but he isn't pick 1 on a WR good.  Last year he would be below Nabers and Williams.  This year you could argue Hunter is the better WR.  WR at 1 better be a Calvin Johnson not a WR that disappears some games in college...
    • So because he's a projected top 5 pick he's should be the guy we draft.   Yet you say the other 2 QBs who are projected top 5 picks are not worth it because you think they aren't that good.   That's my problem with you. You just seem to only care about Tmac. I have yet to see you suggest anyone outside of Tmac. At least I'm open to other prospects.
