You will never see Smitty play the slot exclusively. If at any point in his career he is not a #1, he will be a #2 and slide to #3 on those plays.

Actually the best way to play Smith is not exclusively in the slot or as a wideout but in motion. If you put him into motion he is much harder to jam off the line and there are few guys who can stay with him.

None of the other guys have shown the ability to be the number 2 guy yet. Jarrett and Moore will get the first chance on Thursday.

I mean if we have two guys on the roster, in which one steps up and is able to be a dominate number one, and the other is a true number two. It could be a year or two, but do you think at that point smith givin his age then, the team would consider him playing slot full time? Even with his age Smith will still be able to play number one but if they have a young guy able to perform in that posistion, i just didnt know if they'd consider moving him there then.

Someone hit on the solution to Smith's woes. TEs. We can split them out, put them in the backfield, they block, etc. Is Jarrett faster than Barnidge? Are his hands better? Does he know more of the playbook? I say cut Jarrett, use Rosario and Barnidge more creatively, and bring LaFell, Edwards, and Gettis along. Moore will help, and so will Wright.

Jarrett is almost at the point where his lack of productivity, knowledge, etc are distracting. Take him out of the WR equation, and the personnel falls into place. I would keep Smith, LaFell, Moore, Wright, Edwards, and Gettis. Add Barnidge and Rosario as hybrids, and look who ain't missin Jarrett at all.

Smitty in the slot, TEs split out and on the wing, DeAngelo out wide, etc. I imagine you will see Moore out wide if they start Wildcatting Edwards. Davidson is getting creative, and with young talent, I am not surprised it is taking time to gel. That is why they need to make a decision on Jarrett quickly.

hey, man....all I am saying is Jarrett has at least shown he can go out on Sunday and catch balls thrown to him. He did it last year. I am not saying he is great or that it should be that hard to replace him.

I just think before we crown LaFell an immediate improvement that he needs to prove it. He is a rookie WR #1 and #2 also one with a tendency to have poor hands (per reports when he was entering the draft).

Jarrett has been a huge disappointment......but I still wouldn't totally ruling out Jake/Fox assisting in that. I also think a Beason comment here or a mess up there is amplified to the extreme with Jarrett.....when the same stuff happens to all guys. Steve Smith runs wrong routes in games.....it happens.

We have seen that creativity in the past few training camps. Don't expect to see much (if any) of it during the season.
