P-55 Fan Fest analysis

Gantt's opinions are full of his own personal bias as well.....

Of course he spins his opinion, that what he is getting paid to do. But his opinion is mostly colored by what the front office thinks and what the coaches and players are saying.

What is funny is folks like you coming on here and bashing him as if you have any credibilty at all. He is a professional sports writer who is paid to follow the Panthers.

And you are??????

Yeah, nobody.........

I figure I will stick with someone who has a clue.

Don't put much stock into 7 on 7 drills as far as QBs go. They are more for route running than anything. QBs are told to let all the routes develop before throwing the ball so that all the WRs are on tape and their routes can be scrutinized.

Exactly, most of the time it is scripted down to who will get the ball as well, in otherwords plays are called for a specific player.

Fan Fest was a scripted scrimmage nothing more. But it was generally fun and a good time. Best of all, unlike training camp, you can drink beer at fanfest.:D

Not that I'm a professional yet, but I am a freelance sports writer for the Observer, and I've been in the sports journalism field for awhile now....

Freelance ia nice way of saying no one will actually pay you to write a story but if you get lucky, they will pay you once they read it and figure it is decent.

Maybe you should be listening to Gantt and emulating him instead of casting stones. He is getting paid to do what you do most of the time for free. If you don't think much of him it might say more about you than him.

Actually I have a freelance contract which means I get paid by the story but I'm not an employee of the Observer so I can write for anyone else I want....

You don't have to get all worked up just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion that Gantt is a decent reporter....IMO he's not a very good writer, and I don't value his opinion....

Again a freelance contract just means if you actually write something worthwhile they have an agree upon rate at which they pay you. It means they don't have to pay you regularly either and you have no steady income unless you produce every week. Like a car salemen, they don't mind keeping you around since if you don't produce they owe you nothing.

Everything you say about Gantt sounds like petty jealousy. He is the big dog on the porch and you are the ankle biter wanting to find a place on the porch as well. Until you listen to those already doing the job and figure it out, you will get to stay a free lance reporter with no steady income.

Oh well I guess when they don't pay me for something I write then I'll start to worry....

I'm so glad you know me, my thoughts and my financial situation....

The only reason I have stayed in here is because you feel the need to bully and harass people because they don't hold the same opinion as you. Guess what bro, I would be willing to bet you're in the minority in thinking Gantt is a good reporter....

Sadly these days most professional sports writers are the lapdog of the team they're covering.

Reading these posts about the QB's, it's completely obvious that personal biases are showing.

I've heard everything now... Moore was great but the OL let him down vs. Moore had a bad day, Clausen does not have a strong arm vs. Clausen had nice zip on his passes, Cantwell playing with the second team against first D vs. Cantwell playing on third team against third D.

Love it!

Part of the discrepancy is that some people are talking about the scrimmage only, others are including drills while others don't have a clue.

In the scrimmage, Cantwell played with the second offense against the first defense.

Moore played with the first offense against the second defense. Clausen and Pike played with the third offense against the third defense.

Clausen looks to have average speed which is more obvious when you see the zip that Cantwell has on it. But no one would say Clausen has a live arm or can zip it in there.

Moore was not great partly because the O-line played poorly. And he threw some ugly balls as well as a good deep ball that Moore couldn't haul in.

Anyone who says anything else belongs in the clueless category.

Versus being shut out of conversations, not being given access and writing uninformed crap because no one in the organization will talk to you. Personally I will take the guy who has access. At least you have an understanding of the organization and what they are thinking.

How about a link to something you've written? You're proud of your work, right? Put something up if you think you've got credibility. Otherwise you're just a troll on a message board, and not a particularly good one at that.

FWIW, I wasn't too happy with what I saw at fan fest. I think I saw a defense that couldn't wait to show the fans what they had worked on, and an offense that couldn't wait to get off the field. Reminded me more of 2009 than of 2008.
