The Problem is Fox....Period

I have never been a Fox basher but I really think the problem is him. His whole

" there are no ugly wins-they are all beautiful" routine makes me sick.

I have seen Ditka, Roy Williams adn Larry Brown in basketball, Cowher, and others , get in players faces when they were up by 20.

Also after crappy wins like ours in San Diego, Oakland, Detroit, and how many others, those coaches would be like- we were lucky to escape with a win today, we have alot of work to do, or something to that affect.

Not that Fox bs we were good enough to be 9-3 or 10-4 or whatever. Or there are no ugly wins, they are all beautiful. I am sorry, the manner in which you win is a direct reflection of how good your team is, for real. If you are falling behind and having to catch up and be " Cardiac" all the time, something is wrong.

We need an aggressive coach. A team takes on the identity of it's coach and because of that our coach adn team are sitting on the couch now.

I do think the whole Jerry Richardson vision of a "Steelers South" is based less on a 3-4 defense....the Chin....and more like sticking with a coach through thick and thin for decades. Fox seems safe......but I have to say I think Marty Hurney has separated himself from the duo.

I do not think both of their fates are tied together anymore like they were last season. I like Hurney, for the most part, and think we have had a couple of great drafts recently. Lets see what happens in the off season. Letting Fox not hold players totally accountable, means Hurney permits this as well.....so before I shower Hurney with more accolades I will see how we handle that umm.....Defensive coordinator. I am expecting to be underwhelmed.

"i made the playoffs. my job is done here. bye"

that was the attitude I sensed from Fox this season. We looked like a team that didn't even try to have a plan to win on Saturday night.

12-4, division champs, it's all beautiful but you only get so many chances to win in the NFL. Peppers could be gone, Gross too. We made a really shitty effort to string together a win and I think Fox folded and doesn't really care because expecations are so low in Charlotte.

I've never liked Fox. Even with all of his success, I've always felt like our team could be better. I've never agreed with a lot of his football philosophies on offense and defense. His "All In" season came to a dramatic halt due to his conservative, unimaginative, same old play calling that we see ALL season long. The lack of preparation is inexcusable. What exactly was our game plan? Maybe now he'll consider having back up plans or adjusting during the game, his biggest challenges yet.

Cowher wants this job, give it to him. Though we all know Fox will still be here next year.

conservative ? What the hell is conservative about a greater than 2:1 pass to run ratio? I think if anything they tried to get much too cute and get it back all at once. This seeemed more of a case of getting too cute to me. Hell they were running the no huddle in the first half. How many times have the Panthers done that under Fox?

Exactly, after the fumble the offense went into bombs away to Steve Smith! Took out Deangelo because of the rotation.

If you QB is struggling you keep running. We all complain that we should mix it up but I thought we got real cute...playing that reverse-reverse psychology. I was shocked how little they tried to get it to smith underneath...or on reverses. oh no...there I go getting mad again.....deep breath....good

You're right. I guess I was more thinking of his over all tendencies when writing this... this did not look like a Fox playoff game. He is usually a horse of a different color come post season.

    • The reality though is that there just isn't a traditional #1 pick type of player in this draft to begin with. He might have been below Marvin last year, but I don't think he'd have been below Nabers. And if you think he disappears in some college games, then you're only looking at the box scores, I guarantee you not a single NFL GM will say he disappears in games when watching the tape. Arizona's offense is a MESS this year, the new coaching staff is beyond bad and the fanbase is screaming for them all to be fired, our OL is awful, our QB is playing like utter garbage, and we don't have another weapon to attract any defensive attention.  Teams are double and triple teaming him on almost every snap, and when combined with the OL and QB issues, it's just impossible to get him the ball sometimes.  And even when our QB forces the pass to him, half the time it's not even catchable given how poor he's been playing. And even despite all that, he's still 3rd in the nation in yards. I've also seen more WR rankings having Burden over Hunter than I have seen Hunter over T-Mac.  If we had a true outside #1 WR, then taking someone like Hunter (or Burden) instead of T-Mac would make more sense as if Hunter were to play WR in the NFL, he'd more likely be used a slot guy like Godwin or Kupp.   There's a reason most mocks/analysts who don't list Hunter as a CB/WR (or just Athlete) list him as a CB.  Because it's his better position and the side of the ball he's more likely to play in the NFL, partially due to his wire thin frame, I don't see him holding up long term as a WR.
    • This was a good breakdown from Daniels.  Last year has had a lasting impact on Young. He still isn't getting the time needed from the OL - the OL we have is made to establish the run and for the run to be in play.  We get behind and have to throw all game we are doomed with this O-line. His receivers have to catch the ball when he makes a good throw to them, he can't have them dropping his good passes. Why are we running 4 slants all toward the same direction?  Why a triple option on 4th and 1? That's on the coaches. Bryce gets hurried and starts slinging the ball where it shouldn't be thrown, more study and recognition from him are needed.  Bryce doesn't step up in the pocket and throws too soon and unbalanced.  He over and under throws the ball because of it.  That's on him.  If the pocket isn't there and he can't get his base set he needs to check down or "live to fight another day." He has been thrown to the wolves and has lost his confidence.  This team doesn't have much, if any, talent and it's a cluster.  I think he can still be an NFL QB.  Maybe not a QB1 in the short term, but if he has a chance with better coaching and personnel he may be better than we are giving him credit for. I think we ruined him last year and have not fixed anything to help him this year.  If we can't run or get way behind all NFL defenses are coming after him.  Dalton has more respect and defenses didn't always sell out to get to him because he'd hit a quick slant, screen, or check down because he has the experience to know what's coming and what to do. Just my 2 cents.
    • All depends on who the backup is. Josh Allen probably would have been benched too if there were better backups than Matt Barkley and Nate peterman.
