Didn't we win all 4 preseason games, week 1, and then proceed to a then record of 15 straight loses in 2001?

the lions won all 4 of their preseason games in 08 and decided to fold it in for the rest of the season....

its not about the wins in preseason, its about the way the players play during preason that counts. The record means nothing. Last preseason they played poorly and they ended up playing poorly through half the season. So yes preseason is a big indicator of how the team will perform during the season.

yep. jake was poor in preseason and poor during the season. the defense was poor at tackling in preseason and poor at tackling for at least half the season.

Those are my thoughts.While the won vs loss record is not important the way the players perform is really the key to preseason.

I'm not ready to slit my wrists yet, but the 1st team offense was only able to manage one first-down in a 12 play series against the 2nd team defense... that concerns me.

yep. jake was poor in preseason and poor during the season. the defense was poor at tackling in preseason and poor at tackling for at least half the season.

Jake played fairly well in preseason last year. No interceptions and had his best preseason in a while as far as completion percentage.

The good news is that Steve Smith and Jonathan Stewart are huge components of our offense and we didn't have them today. Under the best of circumstances, we're a run-first offense that's going to wear opponents down and it's hard to see that in a 12 play series.
