Mike Kaye: Shy Tuttle takes pay cut to stay on the team

Recommended Posts

He was clearly put in a bad position last season.  He was being asked to be a lead guy with Brown out and that isn't who he is...not a bad move for 3m.  He will be much better as a BU rotation guy.

Smart decision on both sides:

if Panthers would have cut him they would have saved $3.25 million under the cap

so instead they do this: Tuttle was set to make $6.5m in last year of his deal. He’s taken a pay cut to $3m, per league source. $500k in guaranteed money.

Cap savings while still keeping him on the team for depth. Very smart move

Damn that sucky ass Morgan.  Redoing a deal to get great value at a position of need.

He can still play nose tackle if needed and added some depth for DE.  I value his experience in this type of system and hopefully teaching Brown and who ever we probably end up drafting.  With his size, he's much more about technique than pure size.
