I'm not sure why this wasn't done in the first place.  It made perfect sense to me.  Maybe Jackson wanted to see what his market was.  It wouldn't shock me if this was the parameters of a deal that was on the table the entire time.  He's a CB2, we needed a CB2 at a reasonable price.  I guess all is well that's ends well.

Panthers re-signed CB Mike Jackson to a two-year, $14.5 million contract.

Jackson was acquired just before the start of the 2024 regular season in a trade with the Seahawks and now remains with the Panthers on a new two-year deal. He played all but 13 defensive snaps for the Panthers a season ago and should remain the team’s top perimeter cornerback option moving forward.

Defense is shaping up nicely. With our corners set we can keep working on safety and linebacker/edge rusher. 

Jackson said he wanted to be here so a deal wasn't tough to do.
