You must not have paid attention to our safety play last year, flat out terrible. This guy is young, decent against the pass, and really good against the run. He fills an immediate need and can step right in and play. We should appreciate this pick, IMHO.

decent against the pass? That's probably generous.  Bottom 3rd out of all at the position.

we just overpaid for Horn.  That's not helping with my thoughts on him. 

Frankly, I think Dan should of gone all in on overpaying for bodies on the defensive front.  He got outbid already for the Eagles guy.  Little else.  Basically what he did last year for the O.

Lots of options at Edge and DT in the draft. I suspect we will sign a couple of each at that position. "There are only three safeties with five or more interceptions, five or more tackles for loss and 15 or more passes defended since 2023, according to Sports-Reference.com: Jessie Bates III, Kyle Hamilton and Tre'von Moehrig. He also totaled a career-high 104 tackles in 2024, and he's incredibly durable, playing in 66 of a possible 68 games in four seasons despite leading the Raiders in defensive snaps (4,066) since being drafted in 2021. Moehrig is young and has potential but the Raiders let him walk and turned around and signed Chinn who is only 2 years older for $16 million.

He's going to have to be really good here to justify the money.
