Just looking at his PFF grades... really good run defense grade. Average to below average coverage grade.

Typical Panthers safety. I don't know why we want undersized LBs playing safety in today's NFL.

I like this better than a DT. There are stud DTs in the draft. Load up on cheap options there. 

Drafting a safety seems like much less of a sure thing.

Yep, you hear that the DT position is one of the deepest in years.  We could land a really good player with a mid round pick.  I'll take that!

I'm happy to see him here. Both safeties are in the fit all the time in 2-high shells. Good player, helps us where we need it, shaves off a position of need for the draft, where we're now pretty much locked into overhauling the line.
