Let's say the Panthers do not get Milton and his $25m per year salary.  Here is the good side:

• He was not good vs the run.
• He plays DE, and our biggest need is DT
• We could get another DT for half price.
• Milton may have been strong because he was not a key focus of the OLs the Eagles played. 
• The Eagles did not try to keep him.
• The draft is deep at DT.

I do not think he is a sure thing.  He is a pass rushing 3-4 DE, based on his stats and PFF ranking.

I could not agree more.  I have always thought there was a TON of risk with this guy.  If we don't get him the world doesn't end.
