Happy to keep him but definitely risky to make him the highest paid CB in the league and give him the 2nd most guarantees behind Surtain... Obviously when on the field he's an absolute stud and deserves it, but I would've liked to see him string a few healthy seasons together before giving him the big deal.

Very risky he has played in 37 out of 68 possible nfl games. Hope it works out for the panthers if his health stays like its been being panthers will pay him 27mil per game.

highest paid DB....so far.....

Lots of guys are about to get paid, we just set the market.

...That's actually a very, very valid point. It's much better to get this deal done before the others got their bag, and the price tag shot up.

When Horn never would have signed.  Gotcha.

He knows his value. The $$ he got is not out of line. It’s the cost of doing business.

Just y’all wait until the Ickey train gets rolling. The move him to RT people miss the fact that he is not going to take anything less than LT money.

With the rate he was getting injured, wouldn't have been the worst decision for him to accept a 4 year, $60ish million contract for financial security

giving up the opportunity to make 40 mil more just a year later would have been a terrible decision.  even if he got hurt again last year he could have easily gotten 15 on the open market.   and his dad is Joe Horn, he's not broke.

It was a tough position for us to be in. I'm not really angry about it I like Jaycee. I would rather have him than not. But there is the very real reality and possibility that a contract this size given his injury history could become an albatross for us. There's also the reality that our defense was dead last in rushing yards. We seem to be prioritizing building the defense backwards from the way the rest of the successful teams have. I'll just have to see what we do for the rest of free agency and the draft. I said all along this could be one of the most consequential offseasons in many years. Dan Morgan is going to make or break us for good. I'd certainly obviously much rather he be successful. But I've seen similar stories play out here over the years as a tortured Panthers fan. Time will tell.
