Today, Dwayne Jarrett made the most amazing catch at practice...

Concerning DJ, I hope he has a good preseason and even better season mainly because of the 2nd round pick we spent on him. As far as Armanti, it will take a couple years to develop him, so don't read into his dropped punt returns and stuff like that. The draft is pretty much a crap shoot imho.

Please give AE a year before you judge him...is that too much to ask for a qb learning wr?

Not at all, and it's not that I don't believe that he can contribute to the team. It's just that I think that we gave up too much for him. I viewed him as a 5th round pick at best because he is a project.

So basically we are going to end up redshirting him and he's going to be our second round pick for next year, and second round picks are usually expected to start or at least be valued contributors.

If we were going to reach for a player like that I would rather it had been Greg Hardy. This guy can play and he can play right away. That's just my opinion tho. I believe he's going to shock some people this year and prove that he is far better than 6th round pick whereas A.E... He's not going to do much at all if anything.

Good thing the Panthers don't pay you to think. Typical negative nancy mentality.

it's not negative mentality, it's just using common sense. even steve smith didn't break 200 yards his first season out. hell, he didn't even get his first 1,000 yard season till year 3, when we made it to the super bowl. i don't expect armanti to do anything more than 100 yards receiving and maybe he'll get some return time at the end of the year. i just don't see us using him a whole lot this season, and i think he'll be on the practice squad for most of the season. but i do, however, feel that the trade was warranted. noting his outstanding running skills and awareness coming downhill. and obviously his effort and learning skills are easily noticeable. it just takes time for a Wide Receiver to really break out.... especially when you're converting from being a QB to a WR. it just doesn't happen over night.

if he were selected in the 1st or top of the 2nd, and he was coming out of college as a pure wide receiver/kick returner, then yeah... he could probably do some damage this year like DeSean Jackson did in his first year. but he wasn't...

Nah. He won't be on the PS. Regardless of the value of the AE pick, he isn't going to be cut. We just won't be getting much production out of our 2011 2nd round pick for a while.

Negative nancy mentality? No it's common fugin' sense, and if you knew anything about football you'd realize that. Unless you're just another one of those A.E. dick riders who think he's the second coming of Randel El... Who isn't much more than mediocre.

Agreed that many thought AE would go later, but we have to keep in mind that as fans, we have essentially no idea where a player will go. You just have to trust the front office since they have conducted numerous private workouts with him, studied tape, interviewed him, etc. I liken it to the Steve Smith/Beason picks - nobody was a huge fan of either, but they obviously turned out well. Same reason grading drafts before the season is the stupidest idea ever. Then again, I read every one of them....

I really could care less about the name or the number on the jersey. In all honesty, if the best set of WRs didn't include Steve Smith then cut him. The way this offseason has played out, that is what exactly needs to happen. Not just at the WR position but every position. The best players stay, period.

Smith, K. Moore, LaFell, Edwards, Wright. Those would be my picks for the WR core this season. If they keep six WRs then Jarrett makes it but I would not cut any of those guys in favor of Jarrett.

Sealing his spot on the roster and eliciting a wave of cheers from the crowd.

And I would have caught it on camera if I hadn't been distracted by the double rainbow all the way cross the practice field... So intense.

Was it all the way across the sky?
