New Structure for the Playoffs

They need to change it to best overall record hosting games. I'm sorry Arizona should have not gotten their first home game and now they get a second one. The NFL is so hypocritical. At least baseball rewards teams with best records.

One and done...that is why the NFL is king. I mean during the NBA or MLB finals it just drags out.....it really diminishes why you have to have good coaching, good health......you would not be as excited or as depressed if it was not one and done. It is by far the best system. Now about a silly coin toss in OT to decide who gets the ball first is another story.

I completely disagree with this idea. There are things that the NFL could change, but the playoff setup is not one of them, I think that they have it just right. Each regular season game means something, that's why it's so interesting. The chance that your team can squeak into the playoffs and still make it to the big game is very appealing. The chance that a great team can have a good season, and not make the playoffs is very appealing.

Injuries, tough luck and bad breaks make the NFL the ultimate chess game.

You're comparing the NFL to MLB where there are WAY too many regular season games and only a couple of the teams make it in the playoffs. Hell, the last month of the season is completely meaningless to more than half the teams each year.

No, the NFL should not change the playoff setup at all.

i totally disagree, just because you have the best record during the regular season of the NFL doesnt make you the best team. the team that plays best in playoffs IS the best team. Who ever does it when it counts is who is the best team. sorry carolina fans you guys are not one of the best teams. either are my falcons, such is life. Yes decent regular season, but when it counts. not so much

I'm all in favor of eliminating preseason games in favor of games that mean things. Eliminating a preseason game in favor of another round of playoffs sounds good to me. But I don't think it's practical to play a multigame series in each round. Sure it means that your team gets a chance to make up for a bad day, but suppose that bad day is because of multiple injuries? Suppose we get Smitty and one of our RBs injured in that game? It won't matter if there's another one or not to play, we'd be severely weakened.

Besides, this is football. The way football works is you get one shot to get the job done.

So four teams out of the entire NFL make the Playoffs? No thanks.

If your just going to give it to the best team then why have a playoffs at all? If your the better team, play like it.

you're not the best overall team if you cant come in and beat anyone on any given sunday.

The best part about football is that there is no "series". Each and every game matters more than 10 games in baseball!

Whatever. I just want you to prove to me Carolina is better that Arizona. That's the kind of thinking that has gotten the NFCCG in Arizona.

If the Panthers had won this weekend, this thread would have never been made

The fact that even the worst team in the playoffs could go on a hot streak and win the superbowl is what makes them so exciting.

Nothing needs to be changed.

Well said by all.

The problem is just because one team has a simply a better record does npot mean there the better team of the regular season.

1. What happens if the the number two is 11-5 and the 3 seed is 11-5 but the third seed plays in a the NFC south and has a hard scedule. While the other plays in the NFC West and plays a easy scedule. This is an instance among numerous others where the best team quite possibly might not play.

2. Not to mention the injuries and toll you would take play more games. Taking the presaeon wouldnt do anything because teams barley play starters anyway, and even if they do there playing not to get hurt.
