Oakland offers us Ashomagi and a pick for Julius Peppers (who we franchise), would you bite?

Case for trade: shores up bad secondary and gives us flexibility to release Lucas. frees up cap room for Ashomagi to get extension, as well as sign Gross to deal. Extra pick for a possible trade up (provided it's high enough). Teams won't throw easily on us.

Case Against trade: what will happen to the pass rush? who will take over for Pep? impossible nearly to compensate for his skills. great secondary + no pass rush = all day to throw. Who said Ashomagi can fit in the system? and will the system change?

I would do it but thats not going to happen. I think the Raiders would be foolish to do that. I wish we could get both of these guys on the Texans. We have 30 to 40 million under the cap so we might be able to sign Ashomagi, peppers and dunta robinson. That combo would put us in the AFC championship for sure. I just doubt the Texans will pay them all of the cap money.

the problem in my mind is yes Asomugha is a great corner who would fit in our scheme, but we need to change our scheme. We need our corners to play physical, if we got Asomugha Turgocrap would have him do the same things we ask of Lucas. Play off the WR 10-15yds and keep everything in front of you, we don't care if he picks up 20yds just keep him in front.

Now in my mind Asomugha would do a much better job at this by jumping the routes, but we need to change our whole secondary mentality by becoming a physical unit.

I'd take that trade in a skinny minute for their 1st rounder but Peppers will never agree to it. He wants to play for a team that has a good chance to win the SB. Thats what he said. I don't think he believes the Panthers have a chance to win the SB any time soon.

If peppers wants to play for a superbowl contender he needs to stay put of come to houston. We are a pass rusher away from being a serious contender.

No Mario is paid and we will have between 30 and 40 million under the cap. We are 29, 700,000 under right now. I would really rather go after namdi from the raiders and get another DE in the draft though. Peppers needs a change of pace...time to leave home big boy...come on and get some texas BBQ...:D....I just hope we get Dunta Robinson signed before we look at any other teams free agents.
