Random Thread: SETI is a waste of money...

I'm all for finding intelligent life out there in the Universe. Micros grow on your freaking hand, even I really wouldn't care if we found micros on another planet or moon. I really wouldn't care if we found species like dogs or cats. But hello, we're not going to find E.T by listening fo freaking radio signals. First of all, over time, the strongest signal will loss strenth, and turn into just noise....or just blend in with everything else, so there are only a relative few stars that our signals will even reach, and the likelyhood that an intelligent alien species live on those planets is almost 0. Secondly, since our signals can only go so far, even if the aliens have radio technology (also almost 0) there signals would also loss strenth. Added with the fact that there is a good chance they would have technology we might not even understand, there is no point in searching. The only way we'll ever find anything is by sending probes........radio signals rofl.

Probes that are fueled by anti matter could be 50% the speed of light. THere is a better shot at finding life by searching all of the planets, than by sending them bad reruns of Happy Days.

i think seti is awesome, but I'm a nerd and I think we'd be better off putting more money into space exploration in general.

I think we should spend as much money as possible on space exploration...but wasting it on 200 recievers that will never..NEVER as long as humans are on the Earth find anything is a bit of a waste.

The new satellite they lauched has already found like 150 earth sized exo planets anyway. 150 more possible places for life...150 more than seti has found.
