If we were going to keep him, he'd have a new contract. You don't let a coach of Fox's level hit that last year if you plan on keeping him. All he has to do is break even (8-8) this season to look like a f**king genius with all the roster moves we've made and the general consensus that Richardson is pinching pennies this year. Then he's going to get massively paid once he hits the market, lockout year or no.

He's not going to be ok with sitting out of football for a year while there's a labor dispute so that we can save some $$$, either.

i don't think this is necessarily true. The organization has shown willingness to pay people what they're worth on the market if they want them badly enough. Hopefully Fox will be one of those people, but I agree, chances are slim.

If the organization doesn't want to pay Fox the big bucks, why would they write a bigger check to Cowher and open the team to all the possible changes that might incur? Possible 3-4 switch, new OC, new DC, wants to be GM/HC so bye bye Hurney, etc etc.
