Armanti Edwards....

For all these people saying its unheard of to have a 2nd or 3rd rounder on the practice squad dont realize that weve have Dexter Jackson on our PS. He was drafted by the Bucs in the 2nd round and he really has no chance of making the active roster for us this year.

It wasn't his first year in the NFL though, players that are drafted in the top 4 rounds don't end up on the practice squad in thier inaugural season.

Cat'sGrowl89 is right -- Darin Gantt did say Edwards looked to be the slowest as a returner.

Of course, the point he's making is that Edwards is fast, and for him to be the slowest means we've got plenty of speedy guys. Besides, like Baschski said, speed isn't everything in the return game.

I'll take that. The key to returns is more quickness than speed. And Edwards is plenty quick. I've seen highlights of Guy from Louisville and he was extremely quick as well, he also looked a lot faster than his reported 4.5 once he got past everyone.

And didn't Dexter Jackson run a 4.29 or something like that? Also, Witherspoon has been reported to run a 4.16 40 yard dash... I could see how Edwards wasn't the fastest out of that group. Then again, I don't think those guys have AE's open field ability.

I didn't realize Witherspoon was that quick. I'm sort of expecting him to win the punt returning job, though I wonder if Guy can show enough as both a returner and receiver to warrant a roster spot. I don't think Witherspoon's much of a quarterback.

Still, if he can be a force in the return game, he'd be worth keeping around.

But that wasn't OUR 2nd round pick, so we don't lose any face by putting him on the PS.

He was not our 2nd round pick plus he was a reach for the 2nd round anyway

I expect this from Panthro, but not others. Yall are better than this.

No, we really aren't. :(

I jog by the Panthers practice fields hoping they call me in to play....when they don't I just continue on to bojangles

If I was a little bigger and black they would sign me. But alas, WR is too skilled of a position for white guys. Racist league, racist owner...

Based on what I've seen at training camp, I think Armanti has a better chance of contributing as a WR than he does as a PR/KR guy this year. Witherspoon has looked really good on KR/PR drills and Armanti has really shined at TC when playing in the slot so given our need at WR I'd expect Armanti to make the 53 even if he's not our PR/KR guy this year.

I agree with this statement totally.

I been made a thread saying NO MORE WR/KR hybrids. You draft a receiver, have him play receiver. You drafted a kid that was special on kickoffs, have that be his job. You want a returner, sign a free agent

Its like since Steve blew up, we're trying to duplicate that. But they all aint Superman

I would have loved to have drafted Mardy Gilyard or Golden Tate but I'm not going to trash on Armanti Edwards in five days. Zod had to have known the reaction this post would get considered how controversial the pick has been to many of you.

How many years did it take for DeAngelo Williams to become an every down back? Remeber he was a first round draft pick; I'm sure people on these very forums were calling him a bust! He didn't even have to learn a new posistion.

I'll tell you what I think of AE during the middle of next season.
