Armanti Edwards....

Based on what I've seen at training camp, I think Armanti has a better chance of contributing as a WR than he does as a PR/KR guy this year. Witherspoon has looked really good on KR/PR drills and Armanti has really shined at TC when playing in the slot so given our need at WR I'd expect Armanti to make the 53 even if he's not our PR/KR guy this year.

One of my best friends and I still bring up at Edwards' and LaFell's draft press conference, they were setting up the cameras and a Panthers guy (maybe Charlie but I can't remember) gave Edwards a draft cap, he couldn't fit it over his braids and said "Man I don' weah a hat."

Oh. Well in that case he's definitely a bust.

I'm pleased with AE's progress so far. According to Gantts reports AE has progressively been getting better at catching punts and returning them. You can't ask for much more from him than improving...especially if he's only been learning the skill for 5 days.

I expected this from Panthro but come on guys....what did you expect? He never returned a punt in his life before being a Panther. And it's only the 7th day of training camp. Do yall actually expect him to catch every punt right now...? Oh yeah did I say its only the 7th day of training camp. Stop overeacting and calling this guy a bust. Its really like Armanti is going to be drafted next year and everything we get out of him this year is just extra. I've never seen so many people give up on players so fast.

AE is no where near as fast as Smith is/was either.

I believe it was Gantt who tweeted the the other day that Edwards was easily the slowest person of all the returners battling for the job.

(Then again, it must've been someone else who said it, no way Gantt would do that to his boy)

Learning to catch, and run with a punt, isn't a hard thing to do.

If I had the athletic ability, I could go out there myself and try for the job.

So the question begs, what's keeping Edwards?

Sounds like we've got a tad too many App State fans on the board..

Did he not run a 4.4 40 or something along those lines? That is fast enough to do punt returns. What we have had back there the past 5 years or so has not been anything spectacular anyway.

I think there are just more Armanti haters on this board than App State fans. Just because someone is defending him does not make them an App homer. Everyone seems so quick to jump on him for struggling in TRAINING CAMP. Too early at this point to draw conclusions.

I'm going to sound like a homer with this one but I dont care. Armanti runs in the lower 4.4's. Steve ran in the mid 4.3's. How is that no where close?? And Gannt never said he was easily the slowest... Trent Guy ran in the mid 4.5's at his pro day. And I would like to see you catching punts

I've been following all of the tweets, and I don't recall anyone saying Edwards was the slowest of the receivers. I'm following Reed, too, and don't remember that. Maybe I'm wrong.

Yep, if only you had athletic ability, you could do a job that requires athletic ability. Your logic is sound.

I don't know, I think AE might have better football speed than some of those guys. Can't wait to watch him in preseason.
