Armanti Edwards....

"I think Panthro's comment of him playing 8 years of HS ball may be pretty accurate."

just like darren sharper coming from william and mary? or joe flacco coming from delaware? or how bout brad hoover from w.carolina? those are just some of the players off the top of my head that came from that league. he didnt play 8 years of high school ball.

The World Champion Saints have 8 players of their current roster of 82 that have 1 or more years in the NFL that did not play BCS college football and a handful more that are rookies that did not either. How they were able to win it all with that many "high school players" as you "know it alls" call it is beyond some of yalls comprehension. Let me add Tony Romo and Brian Westbrook to the running list of recent 8 year high school players that have done well in the NFL.

Some of you know it alls jumped on the band wagon of a sportswriter in bashing Edwards 5 days into camp. Haven't heard the coaches or front office doing so. You are the same folks that flip hamburgers, work at Walmart, or don't have jobs. or even ever played a down of football ever or ever graduated college, but yet you know more than professional coaches and the front office of the 20th most valuable sports franchise. lol

Edwards will do just what he was drafted to do on the field and more off the field. When's the last time there was this much buzz over a Panther rookie? Already working for the front office, ain't it? Some of you guys don't have a clue. lol

See you guys in October.

lol at people bringing up Flacco. So where did he play his college ball before Delaware?

if by play you mean where did he sit the bench before Delaware that would be Pittsburgh. Im not really sure why that matters however since in his career at pitt he completed 1 pass for 11 yards

I don't think anyone on the huddle hopes Armanti proves he is worth a 2nd rd pick in 2011 more than I do. I would love for him to prove me and everyone else who called him a reach ABSOLUTELY wrong. I hope he is the heir apparent to Steve Smith.

He could go on to be the next Jerry Rice and he was still a reach. He was a 4th or 5th round draft pick that the Panthers traded a 2nd away to get. They could have sat back in the 4th round and taken AE with the Norwood pick or traded two 5ths to get into the 4th round and drafted AE. Instead, next year they will be sitting tight in the second round without a draft pick, a pick that could very well be a top 40 pick.

All I am saying is that I think reaching for Edwards might not pay off like taking Gilyard would have...

Can I borrow that crystal ball that you have?....the one that told you Gilyard is anything other than another rookie who has spent 1 week in camp.

Gilyard may be a great player....Edwards may be a great player. Bottom line is that it is WAY TOO EARLY to make any kind of judgement.

How many times must it be said that AE was NOT going to be there in the 4th round for the Panthers pick. I have FIRST HAND info that the Colts were planning to take him with the 98th pick (my cousin is a scout for Indy) and also the Jets, Patriots, and Chargers all had him next on their lists, all picks BTW that were before ours. Was it a reach for a project player…yes…but they were willing to do it and we must have wanted him badly enough and knew enough information about what was going on to have pulled the trigger on the trade. He’s ours now so get over it and try and at least support the kid and wish him well in the transition and give him a chance. It might take a year or two for full results but let’s at least give him that chance before killing him. And please stop with the 4th or 5th round picks. He was not going to be there so get over it. The FO obviously knew more than we did.

Assuming arguendo that what you are saying is true, you had SECOND HAND info that the Colts were going to take him with the 98th pick.

And I don't believe for a second what you wrote.

He should have been a 4th or 5th round pick. Nothing more.
