Armanti Edwards....

holy balls ballls, every year people get more and more impatient. even the old timers too, dam. 7 fing days at totally new position and people are calling for heads....

first he was a 3RD ROUNDER A LATE ONE AT THAT(after lafell). that normally where risers go, plus its where teams may reach. i heard Edwards tested high and scouts/others where impressed with his off-field demeanor. its always a wait and see if future picks are worth the trade. hard to put value on a full nfl year, plus the saved money too.

the expectations are FAR too high. lower them and come back to earth.

much much more.

Do you remember the goalie from the movie The Big Green? Remember when the other team was on a break away?...the goalie would see the other teams players as ninjas on horses or indians etc...Do you think thats what his problem is?

Personally, I wish they would just let Edwards concetrate on playing WR. There is already plenty of competition for return duties between guys that have done it before. Remember what happened with Thomas Davis when he had to switch positions 3 times in his rookie season? And we all know damn well he's a good football player. I don't want to see that happen with Edwards. I have no doubt in my mind that he can make a contribution this year, so long as they don't overwhelm him by making him do too much too soon.

This is going to sound bad, but as has been hinted at, Armanti doesn't sound like the most intelligent person when he speaks...

Football has a lot of mental aspects to it...

I firmly believe he has the physical tools, but I am not sold on the mental side of things...

This was one reason I held Gilyard in such high regards... He went through a rough point in his life and bounced back from it... He speaks with intelligence and you can tell that he is both confident in his abilities and wants to prove he can be the best... Smitty has those same qualities...

Muffing a few punts, at this point, is not a huge obstacle for Edwards... but where I will be looking is how he handles the adversity and if he still shows some swagger or confidence in the times when he doesn't do so well...

Like the adversity of his father getting sent to jail until 2036 for murder, and responding by by setting all sorts of records at App?

As for the intelligence, listen to Gamble or Peppers when he was here. High level players, football smarts are fine, probably don't want them doing your Algebra homework.

The last time the Panthers leaped at a pure athlete was Davis. We almost always go for Football players and let teams like the Titans and Cowboys take risks with freaky athletic prowess. He's going to take time, and it is a gamble, but if it pays off his ceiling is a lot higher than someone like Gilyard.

This is actually a GREAT year for taking a risk like this. High turnover, low team expectations, good chance of no football next year and he doesn't need to suit up right away. If even one of LaFell, Jarrett (haha), Moore, Wright, Gettis, Guy or Martin plays decently, with our RBs and TEs, we're ok.
