Overall fan interest down?

You can actually hear Smitty cuss from the sidelines.

He was funny yesterday ... wore a disguise of sorts.

Grr. If only I could be there...

You mean the "I have plenty of money and can't understand why everyone else doesn't" tone?

Yes.

Be an 8 year old kid.

The only autograph I ever want is Smitty's.

Actually it seemed that when I went most of the players have their own Sharpie.

Additionaly, it would appear that 89 likes to be referred to as "Mr. Smith"

Now, I'm all for manners, and if his name were something like "Mr. Gurrtlemeyer" I'd have no problem saying it, unfortunately, "Mr. Smith" just creeps me out in the way that makes it seem as if I'm beckoning for my gay police-man outfit master.

no homo..

About the mister thing I was at training camp last year and smith came by signing autographs and this one 10 year old kid was yelling at smith like he was some dog that he was trying to get the attention of and honestly if you want the athleat to do you a favor and sign something the least you could do is show a little bit of respect.

Himself.

OH SNAP!

I'm heading down sometime. Panthro, you interested? I can pick you up and...

If you see a lime green Geo Tracker truckin down I-85 with this flag on the window,

honk your horn at Panthro and Scrum. But if you see it stopped at a rest stop, for the love of god keep driving.

What does Panthro look like in person?

Totally agree that it is priorities, you just said it more eloquently. But your numbers are way off.

I live an hour from Spartanburg and it costs me around 7 gallons in gas for the complete trip. At $2.65 that comes out to around $20 bucks. Admission 1s free, bottled water you bring from home is around 20 cents a bottle so 10 bottles is 2 dollars. If you eat at home before you come and visit the dollar menu on the way back you might spend another $15 bucks at a fast food restaurant. So your total is closer to 40 bucks not $100. Funny how you talk about cutting back and based your costs on driving a hummer and eating out at a more expensive restaurant than necessary.

My point was exactly what you said. If it usually costs almost 200 for 2 people to watch a game at the stadium, it makes no sense not to come to Spartanburg for a fifth of the price and get close to the guys and perhaps get some cherished autographs.

The economy would make it more compelling not less unless you have shifted your priorities away from football and then this whole discussion is moot.

Nope, I never said I cut back. I simply used examples. I drive a Tahoe that runs me about 3/4 tank round trip from Virginia ($50), and we pay on average $.20 less per gallon than in NC. And I stopped with the "dollar menu" when my gall bladder was removed, partly because of the food quality of that menu. No, I have not cut back, but I'm just sayin' there are folks out there who are far more disciplined with their discretionary income and regardless of the economy today, there are a ton o' folks not wanting to get caught with their pants down again.

No doubt most folks have cut back and no one wants to get caught in a crunch. I cut back where I can. I have an excursion but drive my little sports car because it gets 30 miles to the gallon. Don't blame you for not wanting the dollar menu. If you have had your gallbladder out I guess the Beacon would be out of the question too. Unless you want a heart attack as well.:D

And yeah I can understand folks chucking camp, but really it is a good value. Fan Fest is good for that as well but is usually hot as hell.
