Overall fan interest down?

Haven't been since 04, and that season Steve Smith broke his leg in the season opener. Figured I was a jinx or something.

Seriously.............almost went over the weekend. Was in Hendersonville visiting family. Just didn't find time on Saturday, and Sunday I was ready to get back to Chucktown. The only stop I made in Spartanburg was to get gas. Man its expensive across the northern border.

Actually, it appears from the numbers that attendance is keeping pace, if not exceeding, last year at this time.

5K plus there this past Saturday night and the weather was rainy with a chance of more rain. Had a great time.

Wofford and the Panthers have stepped it up this year. I think our fans are just whinny as hell. These are the kind of camps that are interesting with all the competition going on.

Oh well, I will enjoy it as often as possible.

It was a great party ... and the weather turned out in our favor. Watching practice in the stadium is a very different experience, I think. Glad you enjoyed yourself.

I just moved to the Carolinas from New Jersey roughly two years ago so it was impossible to previously attend. Now I get here and the camps are always held in South Carolina? I live in Winston Salem so it would be a hell of a hike to get there and leave without a Clausen or LaFell autograph.

It would be hell of a drive from Greensboro as well.

One other thing: You guys do know they practice on the weekends right? You don't necessarily have to take off work...unless I guess you work on the weekends.

Dude, are you that clueless? Many, many people work weekends and many don't know what exact days they will be off weeks in advance.

Not to mention that "just a 2 hour drive" would cost a decent amount in gas as well. Yeah, maybe you don't have anything else to spend your money on but some of us do, and some of us (like I) have no money to begin with.

Trust me, if I had the money and I wouldn't get arrested, I'd trail the team (mainly Smitty) like a stalker, because I am.

Really doesn't surprise me attendance is down. Money is tight, and even when money isn't an issue only the panthers could get me to willingly go South Carolina.

It's a shame Richardson has a bias for the area, I'd love it if camp was a little closer to the majority of their fan base in the higher population areas. Put camp in Charlotte or Raleigh and it's a no brainier to go every year. You get the panthers camp, and you're not bored out of your mind between practices.

No matter the event it's a hard sell to get people to go to spartanburg. No one needs the extra heat during the summer months, not to mention the area in general is a little too "rural" for most tastes. If you want a camp in rural areas with little distractions, at least put it closer to the major cities in your market. For triad and triangle residents, spartanburg is not an easy driving destination.
