Tyler Brayton....

If reality slapped some of you guys upside the head you would probably still be living in optimist land lol

You should listen to some of these guys; some of them actually keep track with all things football and put a lot of thought and research into their posts. Many know what they are talking about.

I generally don't chime in unless I smell bullshit, but even then I only comment on things I know about. You have gotten good responses as to why Brayton is on this team and why he is a potential starter. If you choose to ignore them, so be it.

Brayton has been catching hell from know-it-all fanz on this board since he showed up and all he's done in return is provide solid play and leadership along the dline doing everything that has been asked of him.

I'm not worried about how Brayton is not going to be a speed rusher. He was never acquired for that purpose. The run defense needs to be solid up front and he can provide that which will be a nice compliment to the back 7 who could prove to be to quite the passing game deterrent this season if they can stay healthy.

Brayton is exactly what the doctor ordered for the Panthers....strong veteran presence, solid against the run, versalite in that he can slide inside on passing downs. This, matched with his 9.5 sacks and 95 tackles make him more that adequate.

Please understand that top defenses need stars....but they also need those consistent guys that lace them up, bring their lunch pale, and just get the job done.

...is that enough cliches in one sentence? Impressive, huh.

Who is this clown? Brayton is rock-solid and every Panther fan should be ecstatic that we brought him back.

Aug 2010 registration? Check.

First post? Check.

Anger-inciting thread? Check.

Trolling without even knowing it? Priceless.

(Yeah, I know, I replaced prices with "checks.")

Read Carefully! Brayton is an OK player like You stated he left in Free Agency and didn't get offers from other teams i wonder why?? 16 sacks and 4 forced fumbles in 8 yrs id much rather see the younger guys on the field that have upside Brayton hit his peak 4 years ago... Don't be mad at me because i have facts to back up my argument. The comments about him being a step away from the Pro Bowl cmon man if he was that good he would have interest from other teams.... Im glad he has some veteran leadership but he can teach from the bench for all i care im looking for production on the field in sacks and ffs from DE position...

Your facts fail.

The guy didn't go test the free agent market.

He asked the team to have him back amidst the veteran purge, and offered to even play for less.

We stole the oppurtunity.

The guy has been a great, tough, perfect player for this team.

The fact that every single poster who has commented in this thread has laughed at you says a little something about your perceived "reality."

    • yeah. winter backpacking trips were the most miserable and amazing experiences. same with the coldest and snowiest hunting  experiences. i love being in it. makes for incredible memories. the worse it was, the more i ended up loving it. made the greatest memories.  i just want to get out of it afterwards.
    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
