Do the Panthers have home field disadvantage?

in terms of sheer crowd noise... here are the top 10

http://armchairgm.wikia.com/Top_10_Toughest_NFL_Stadiums

rofl! That list is from before the 2006 season. A lot has changed since then. I can even remember Patriot fans booing their team & leaving early. :hand:

Our section is by the visiting team's tunnel so we get quite a few of their fans. Most are quite nice. Most obnoxious? Colts & Bucs fans.

The entire upper half of our section stands & cheers for the defense and, quite often, ST's. Need to be quiet for the offense. Often it depends on how the game is going. I've been there when there were only maybe 40,000 fans left because of bad weather and we sounded louder than a full crowd. Sound bouncing off all the empty seats?

Then there is obnoxious standing and "cheering". You can claim to be escorted out just for standing & cheering but what were you really doing? Maybe you were so utterly wasted that you couldn't tell when the team was on offense or defense, or you didn't care? Or that standing constantly and falling over half the time was annoying to those around you? Or that calling out other fans or not facing the field is not cheering the team on? At this point it doesn't matter which team you are "cheering". You're embarassing yourselves and standing for attention only or out of drunken stupidity. Oddly enough these people tend to leave very early. ;) I just hope they're not driving.

Yeah, well, when I drop half a grand on tickets I really don't want someones fat drunk ass in the way!

(Joking; I have never bought tickets, much less dropped half a grand on them. I would like to, however.)

I think that is some folks mentality especially when they pay a premium price. They don't want to stand and want an unobstructed view of the field. They aren't there to root and cheer and go nuts like a lot of folks in the cheap seats. Then again maybe some of the lower level folks have more money to spend on alcohol and are too loaded to be able to get out of their seats and stand. Who knows???

Most people don't have a problem when folks stand during big plays and moments of games to cheer.....even down low. Not if you want to stand an entire quarter just b/c you have the right.....well, I can see people getting annoyed.

As someone who only gets to come back home once during football season, It is very disconcerting when I see steeler's jerseys and packer's Jerseys.

Point b.

Don't wear a team jersey to an event where your team is not even playing. Last season, I came back home and went to the Panthers / bucs game and there was a cowpukes fan sitting there in his barber jersey.

Our best option is to raise our children right, in the ways of the Panther. If you do not have children, get your nieces and nephews, join Big Brothers and Big Sisters, subscribe to adopt a child from a 3rd world country. Whatever it takes!

Go Panthers!

At the Broncos game in 2008 I walked into the stadium behind some douche wearing a Tony Romo jersey. I had a few brewskis in me at the time. I walked up behind him and yelled "Wrong game douche! Cowboy fans suck!" into his ear. I know it's not very creative and a bit mongrelish, but the Huddle Tailgate caused my state of being that day. I was disappointed that the idiot wanted no part of me. He just turned around and gave me this douchey grin.

I guess that is the best way to defeat assholes like me.

It would be interesting to keep track this year of who says they are told to sit down and where they are sitting in the stadium. Maybe it is just my perception but up in the 500 seats, there seems to much less of that compared to the lower level.

That is sorta the fact...in the 500 you have more elevation row to row...which Mrs.g and I have been to many a game in the past 12 years sitting in the 500 section and never had a bad seat. Great view too...you can see the skyline when the game gets ugly, or throw a tarp up when it rains with no 'tude from the seats behind you...I just love the Club food area, and have come to know most of the PSLer's in our section 314 or 308 usually.

The Hurricanes fan base is incredible that is one of the loudest arena's I have ever been to.

The Panthers have a good fan base they are in the middle of the pack.

The Bobcats have an up and coming fan base that should see a lot more people hopping on board next year.

Canes fans create the best home atmosphere of any of carolina's professional stadiums. It's one reason I don't accept the "expansion team" argument for the panther's lukewarm crowds.

That said, things have gotten a little better. Though I did almost get kicked out for using my middle finger for the vic card contest.

I have been saying this for years that there is no home field advantage and it is embarrassing. Ecspecially for Falcon games it is a joke, the majority it seems like are Falcon fans. People boo constantly at half time which is a joke. And most people are people is suites who work downtown and leave by halftime.

lmao

the fine young male falcon fans were only there for vick.

The NFL, as a league, is making a push to create more fan friendly stadium environments. They were talking about it on NFLN last week. That "text about the assholes" policy we saw in BofA last season was in play at several stadiums.

This is a bit off topic but...

I saw this as well and I think the NFL has got it all wrong.

The issue Goodell and the NFL are trying to combat is the comfort of home.

Big screens, entertainment systems, Fantasy football etc...

Huge screens..OK...ill admit that is pretty cool but thats about it.

Die hard fans dont care about cell applications and texting during the football games. If the NFL wants more people in the stands the prices need to be lowered.

Minor league baseball games attendance are at all time high....why? Price!!

I would love to go to more Panthers games, but I just cant affort it.

Bringing a family of four to an NFL game is completely out of the question, but even just 2 tickets with food, and parking is a few hundrew dollars.

Of course, I prefer to watch the big screen at home and have a BBQ.

Its all about price.

Thats the problem, it shouldn't be what it is. Stop worrying about how other people cheer for (or don't cheer) for certain teams and do your own thing. Within the next three years of back-to-back winning seasons, we'll start changing some people's minds.

I do my own thing. It just pisses me off that hometown fans chose not to support the home team. Screw'em, but it still pisses me off. These are the same fans that were well on the Panthers bandwagon during the Superbowl run. Panthers fans selling their tickets to the opposing teams fans is another sore subject with me. If you're going to sell them at least sell them to Panthers fans.
