Do the Panthers have home field disadvantage?

I think that's a distinct possibility.

Or maybe it has something to do with the geography, the ideologies of the people and the state that they live in (near-poverty)?

ETA: Don't worry Berry, I love you. (Translation: I value your posts more than most.)

It would be interesting to keep track this year of who says they are told to sit down and where they are sitting in the stadium. Maybe it is just my perception but up in the 500 seats, there seems to much less of that compared to the lower level.

Yeah, well, when I drop half a grand on tickets I really don't want someones fat drunk ass in the way!

(Joking; I have never bought tickets, much less dropped half a grand on them. I would like to, however.)

I get seats in both the nosebleeds and the good seats every year. The only ejections I have seen were in the lower level.

I saw AKPantherfan get ejected for cheering once.

I got into it with some douchebag last year at the Dolphins game who told me to sit down so he could see. Still shocked I didn't get tossed for that.

Our fans are fickle. It's sad when I'm at a game, and fans of the other team are complimenting our players more than the people around me. 2 years ago at the Panthers/Redskins preseason game, Jake threw an INT early and the guy behind me said "I knew he'd do it, he's terrible!" 2 touchdown passes later, "I knew he'd bring us back all along!"

I hate people like that. It took all I had to keep from turning around and clocking the hell out of him.

The problem I have with folks in this area, who are actually from this area, are the ones that maintain their loyalities to their "original" team. Example, I was a huge Cowboys fan for years; until we got the Panthers. It was hard to push the Cowboys back being that I was a fan for so many years, however, I am from Charlotte, NC....not Dallas, TX. It's okay to still support that "original" team, but not over the home town Panthers. It also pisses me off to hear some of these same people trash the Panthers. Why trash your hometown team just because you want to hold onto your loyalities to your "original" team? I have no issue with those folks that moved here from other NFL cities and hold on to that particular team, but for locals to do so just doesn't seem right to me. That's my take on it. I'm sure there are those on this board who will trash me but, "It is, what it is."

we still have a very young fanbase, not really any "2nd generation" fans yet. When the team is 30yrs old or so, those fans will inherit the love of the team from fans like us. I think this will help w/ the fairweather fans.

Charlotte as a whole is a pretty yuppie kind of place, after all it is the 2nd largest banking city in the US. so, we arent mainly blue collar types like some other places. so i doubt we ever lose the "wine and cheese" moniker for the most part.

but looking at the stats, we have come from the lower half of the NFL in attendance since 2004, and stayed in the top 5 or 6 in attendance since then. For a small market team, that is pretty impressive if you ask me.

Thats the problem, it shouldn't be what it is. Stop worrying about how other people cheer for (or don't cheer) for certain teams and do your own thing. Within the next three years of back-to-back winning seasons, we'll start changing some people's minds.
