Do the Panthers have home field disadvantage?

I've been to a few other stadiums, and a lot of the other teams "noise" has been created by the fact that they they play indoors in a dome.

We have a disadvantage in that we have so many people that live here that have come from other places, it's just a fact - but all the immigrants are the reason why we could get a team in the first place.

My advice is to worry about how much YOU support your team and not worry about anyone else, and things will take care of themselves.

A fan base takes a generation or two to get started. The PSLs meant that the average football fan could not easily get tickets, so the carpet baggers from the North bought them. It is going to take some time before people who don't love the Panthers to lose their seats. They are the same people who sell tickets to fans from the other teams or simply don't go when the Panthers are losing.

Most of the people in this area grew up rooting for the Redskins, and the people who like to get attention by rubbing against the grain started pulling for the Cowboys (which explains why Cowboy fans are egocentric and irritating). At least we can agree that these groups have stayed pretty loyal.

Another thing that we need to really establish a fan base is a true superstar. Someone to sell jersies and promote the team by being its face. Smith is tainted by controversy and has been up and down--not his fault. To emerge from a small market in the bible belt, the star has to be great, squeaky clean, and good with the public. Smith can be an ass to the public, he sucker punches teammates, but he can be great with a good QB.

Carolina has a great fanbase for such a young franchise......look at the Jags who came into the league at the same time. Blackout every other weekend down there.

The stadium atmosphere is kinda lame but.....it will take time.

Well said. The Panthers don't have a problem getting people into the stadium. You could make the argument that our fans aren't as animated as others -- and I think that's indeed true -- but I wonder how much some of these stadium policies are at fault for that.

We've heard on this forum of several diehard fans being escorted out just for standing and cheering.

Hey, now that I think about it, what are the first words in our fight song?

"Stand and cheer for the Panthers!"

here is the nfl average attendances... you dont have to look farther than the bottom of the league

http://espn.go.com/nfl/attendance

no surprised Jerry Jones, 9th wonder of the world rolls in the biggest crowd

#6, pretty impressive.

I've been to numerous games in Miami and Jacksonville, probably 20-25 games total between the two stadiums. Anytime a northern team plays down there, the stadiums fill up with yankee asses just as much as here. Unfortunately, Yankees run their mouths about how great the north is, but they all are moving to the south and infesting our cities. Just something we will have to deal with at games.

Go to Heat, Marlins, D Rays, Lightning, or Florida Panthers games and you get the same thing.

Me, I hate any son of a bitch that's from the Carolina's and roots against t he Panthers, so my bases are covered.

The NFL, as a league, is making a push to create more fan friendly stadium environments. They were talking about it on NFLN last week. That "text about the assholes" policy we saw in BofA last season was in play at several stadiums.

I can appreciate that, but some of the posters on this board have been escorted or confronted by security simply for "standing and cheering."

I don't want a bunch of drunks cursing around kids either, but we should be able to stand up and make some noise at a football game -- especially during critical plays. It kills me hearing these stories of people telling fans in front of them to sit down.

Trust me on this one, I am on your side. I have had several "discussions" with people that have told me to sit down over the years. It's a crock of sh*t. But I was just making the point that Goodel is pushing to make the NFL stadium experience more PC.

That is kinda the point I have been making. Last season at the N.O. game we were in our usual seats, which are right under the 500 tier and were doing all right until a group of N.O. losers...yes N.O. fans you lost one...started spitting over the rails. I have been to enough Phillly games foolishly wearing my Blue & Black to know what it is to get "pizzed" on, and they are actualy pretty descent in my brother's seating area...but I think of how we are asked to be polite, courteous and wonder...is this why we are losing the Afghan "conflict?"

The N.O. fans have no issue with dissing the home team and that's why I love to hate them...gutsy and hail, that's why Philly has a stadium prison!

Here's to the PSLers who keep the games coming on FOX!
