The Sam Mills Fan Report: Live from Spartanburg, 7/31

There weren't any 11 on 11s that I remember. Just 7 on 7.

How long did it rain around 10:30? I missed breakfest, so when I saw the black cloud approaching, I left to get a biscuit down the road. About the time I left the parking lot, it turned into a frog strangler! There were a fair amount of females in attendence and I couldn't help but think that a bunch of wives/girlfriends were pissed off about getting soaked.

i'm not happy about the WR situation but i'm also not worried.

we have some good receiving options at TE and RB along with smith. if even one of the million choices we have at WR pans out then we have a solid receiving corps.

we just need to have a QB smart enough to use all of his available weapons. i think we have that in moore and eventually in clausen.

between lafell, edwards, charly martin, wallace wright, and maybe kenny moore we might have that.

 Agreed...while I would prefer that we have a set of receivers like Cincinnati...I think that we need to develop what we have and draft / trade for a receiver in the next year that is played. We don't know how they are going to pan out...it is way to early to evaluate IMO.

I don't remember the times, but it started off sprinkling and then stopped for a little while. Then some time in the 10 o'clock hour, the heavens opened up for about 10 minutes where it drenched the field. Then it sprinkled on and off until practice ended and the heavens opened up once again when there were just a few players left signing autographs.

Yeah, the sprinkles weren't the problem. I stayed for those. When the dark cloud approach a little before 10:30, I thought the last 30+ minutes wasn't worth getting soaked for...not to mention I was starving. Oddly enough, though few people had umbrellas, they ignored the sky getting black. Either they are pretty hard core or can't take a weather reading by looking up.

BTW, good observations and I agree.

How the f*ck did the Jets just sign Coles, and we didn't?

Damn man. I just talked earlier yesterday about the Jets failing to repeat last year and miss the playoffs, and they go do that. They trying to make SB run forreal

Simple...the Panthers want to develop their own players. If they would have signed a FA WR, it would takes reps away from the guys they drafted and believe are the future.

It's really a pretty good strategy since they now have a WR's coach who has a reputation of getting good production out of rookies.
