If you had to make a decision...

I feel LaFell is going to be something special. I'd definitely keep him. Shoot, I'd keep Gettis over Jarrett; which I hope they do. I've been off the Jarrett bandwagon for awhile now.

I agree with you, and I feel Jarrett is competing more with Gettis and some of the other receivers at this point, to be honest.

LaFell was our second round pick and he's looked good early on; he's staying. Edwards isn't going anywhere either, and Moore's looked good early on. Add Smith in, and that's four receivers.

Two spots left, assuming we keep six receivers. I think those two spots go to Wallace Wright and David Gettis, and Jarrett's is left walking.

Cut Jarrett for sure no question.

Its kind of a catch 22 because you want to see if this kid really does have what it takes to be successful in this league, but at the same time we have soooo many WR's that need reps right now.

do we cut DJ sooner or later is the real question?

Of course nobody would cut LaFell for Jarrett. That isn't the question.

It's whether you want to keep a scrub like Moore or Martin over Jarrett.

From everything coming out of training camp, I don't know that I'd say Moore is a scrub by any means. Hell, even Martin seemed to impress more than Jarrett, though I don't think there's any chance he'll make the squad.

That's why I dislike Training Camp. It's silly season for speculation.

I know it's just been a couple days, but Moore's looked good both days and looked pretty good at times last year as well (aside from that muffed punt hanging over his head). He's a quick guy who seems to have a great work ethic and desire to learn from his idol, Steve Smith. I wouldn't be surprised if he was our third receiver this year behind Smith and LaFell.

tru, but the mystery is what makes it exciting. OOoo the suspence, ahh I love it.

. . and that may have been a little harsh on the "scrub" comment for Moore at least. Funny. . but a bit harsh.

Jarret has shown some flashes when he actually got playing time. Most of his catches last year came on big 3rd down plays.

LaFell hasn't gotten a chance to show himself yet.

I wouldn't cut either at this point.

The problem with keeping Jarrett will be defenses will know he can only run 3 plays.

Cut Jarrett, this is not even a question.

The guy was inactive due to performance, thats pretty pathetic for a 2nd round pick. His inability to still learn the playbook is just sad at this point.

Nomore drafting USC WR's, how about that. I'll take the guy who went against the best defenses the (SEC) in the nation in Lafell. It's easy to score on Oregon ST, Arizona, Notre Dame, and Washington/Washington ST.

    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
    • Well, we got our answer on Army today.
    • Not a chance the SEC could compete with the NFL.  In the large cities that are not in the Southeast, (LA, NYC, Chicago, SF) College football is an afterthought.
