"Schultz via NFL News] Bengals WRs Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins exclusively tell me they’ve agreed to contract extensions with the team. 4-years, $161M with $112M guaranteed for Chase — making him the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history. 4-years, $115M with the first two years guaranteed for Tee."

That's crazy

That's 40% of their salary cap on 3 players

I understand wanting to keep Burrow happy and they did that by paying both Chase and Higgins but they should've been more worried about keeping Burrow healthy. Now with 40% of their cap space going to 3 players it's gonna be tough to build a good Oline around him and that's not even mentioning the defensive side of the ball. Burrow has already gotten seriously hurt twice behind their poor Oline. That GM is gonna have to face some tough questions when they lose games 42-35 cause the defense is so void of talent due to the lack of resources to improve it or if Burrow gets hurt and they have both receivers out there running cardio because the back up QB can't get them the ball and the Oline is giving up pressure.

Record deal: Texans All-Pro CB Derek Stingley Jr has agreed to a three-year, $90 million extension including $89 million guaranteed. At $30M base value per year, Stingley is now the highest paid defensive back in NFL history. The CB market has been completely reset.

That didn't take long.

    • How is this a sustainable business model? The only way it works is if the Bengals hit on every single draft pick and they’ve already shown us they can’t do that.
    • From a scouting report on  of the mock draft sites. Sounds like the next great Panther draft bust to me. "While there is no doubt that Stewart is a physical freak with an excellent combination of height, weight, and speed, Stewart was an underachiever in college as he is a better athlete than a football player. Stewart lacks instincts as a player, has vision issues, and has struggled to finish some plays. All of those issues are seen in his career sack total of 4.5. With his speed, strength, and size, Stewart should have had some big seasons and multi-sack games in his career. Instead, he had zero big seasons of production despite being more talented than the players he was going against. Stewart is going to need to learn pass-rushing moves for the NFL, as he will not be able to win alone on being strong and fast. Stewart was an underachiever for the Aggies and never produced up to his skill set. Thus, he is a very raw project entering the NFL. It might take him a year or two of development, and his pro coaching staff is going to need patience. Stewart also is going to have to be very dedicated and work hard to play up to his ability. Some team sources said they graded Stewart in the second round, and some said they graded him in the third because he is a raw developmental project. However, team sources believe that Stewart could go late in the first round based on his tremendous skill set. He has first-round talent and plays a premium position, so he definitely has a shot at getting selected on the opening night of the draft. Stewart could turn into a tremendous pro, or he could be a bust. It really depends on the coaches he lands with and how hard he is willing to work to turn his talent into success on the field."
    • It's frustrating how this franchise ignore the pro ready prospects and draft the project players. BPA should be the plain, know matter the position besides QB.
