In typical Panthers fashion, we have way more holes than cap space.  Tight funds can hinder a shopping spree.

I guess we’ll now wait for the frenzy to die off then pick thru the scraps.

Josh Sweat to the Cardinals

It's looking like our big free agent acquisition this off season will be that safety lol

I'm assuming they'll get some solid role players on the front 7 but no big names.

The Bengals have made their third move of the day and for the third time, it doesn't involve Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins or Trey Hendrickson. Instead, the deal involves Samaje Perine. According to NFL Media, the running back has agreed to terms on a two-year deal worth up to $3.8 million. Perine has spent 3.5 of his eight career NFL seasons in Cincinnati and he'll now be returning for another one.

I get the feeling the Panthers aren’t going to be as aggressive this year as they were last year. This offseason will set us up nicely for 2027-27, when we’ll have considerably more cap space.

They are kinda forced to be active. The defense is so bad that they cannot afford to sit on their hands this offseason. Now the will not be able to sign all the top FA'S of course, but they have to be strategic in their approach. If they can get Holland that would fix the starting safety group somewhat for the time being. They will need another DB/S to be a starter as Evero loves having 5 DB's on the field and one will need to be able to play both S and CB. That guy will probably come from the draft is my guess, especially if they get Holland.

This is exactly why I expected more early signings.  I’m worried they thought they had Milton all wrapped up and now don’t know what to do.

I'm sure they had him penciled in as a get but knew it wouldn't be a sure thing. There's always a plan B. Someone will be signed to fill the gap for the time being. They need so much help that they surely have a long list of guys who they think can help it's just a matter of who they can afford to sign.

    • It's who I want, but it'll take our third round pick. Don't you think?
    • Love or hate Scout Smitty, 35 minutes of our franchise's best WR talking about the new guy three weeks before the draft is an interesting watch   - Steve's choosing his words more carefully now and keeping his favorites close to the chest lol - Most teams had T-Mac as top reciever in the draft and the only one with WR1 potential. -  Finesse player in a large body. Compares him to AJ Green. "I love AJ Green." Interestingly Green was considered speedy and Tet ran a faster 40. - "F****** dangerous in space" per scouts around the league but has trouble getting seperation. - Below average strength/physicality for his size. Difficulty blocking and against the press. - Low energy when he's not the focal point.  Smitty actually saw some of himself in him there. I thought this was his best insight. - High floor. Believes he'll be good at worst.    Summary: A natural at wide reciever with unique athleticism for his size. Question marks around drive and physicality will be the difference between him being good or great.
    • I think they had their eyeballs on Tet all along and where hoping he would fall to 8. This draft is stacked on the defensive side of the ball. They knew if they could grab their guy without giving up draft capital, it would be a win.  They have a plethora of quality defensive players left to choose from. Happy they didn't pick Walker. Undersized and really didn't put up the numbers worthy of a high pick. Time to pick the guys you want on defense and start building on that side of the ball. Add another Oline guy late in the draft to keep stacking the line. I will be happy with that scenario.
