Lost on a $2,800 pot to four of a kind 6's, and it was totall bullshit.

Holding AA, myself and this ass-hole in the hand. BB was $10, I had raised it to $100, jackass called. Flop goes 6-A-K, I raise, he re-raises, I call. Let him drown himself I think, figured 2 pair at best, maybe nut flush. The turn is a 6, FH for me A high, best hand available. I push all in, he calls. River is a 6. Motherfuger turns over a 3-6 unsuited. I went apeshit, I was pissed.

Really I dont see the problem with betting this. I got the two pair on the flop just needed a 4 or a 10 for a FH.

:iamwithstupid:

I see any hand beating the other a good play. Poker is about calculated risk anyway. If the rules say its ok then its ok. I have won many time with a similar hand. Hell sometimes if one way is not working then you gotta switch up. Dont think the Pros dont do that as well.

Yep. I agree. If it was online might be one thing but not in a tourney.

Please tell me if I am wrong... If you play poker, and I do mean play, is it not almost considered disrespectful to play those rags? Now I get posittion, an unraised BB, or SB with a bunch of limpers, the situation allows different things. They are your chips, you can put them in whenever you feel you want to, but you play them cards, suited or not, and you wont be winning many games. You will probably rake in a few pots, but thats winning a battle, not the war. You can come donk at my game anytime..

I agree with both of you. Unless the hand is folded to you in one of the blinds or at best you've got a tight table image and it's folded to you on the button and you're trying to steal.

If it's folded to you in the BB, SB has called, and you check then flop 2 pair... well there's not much you can do about it. If you're the small blind you just better hope you don't hit anything that's gonna cause you to bet into 2 pair. Especially 2 pair like T4.

Now if you're calling a 3x raise pre-flop with those cards... you're a donkey and you both are absolutely right. At that point it's not being unpredictable it's being a freakin' joke.

What almost gets me more than people who play rag-rag is people who play Ace-Rag.

People who are new to the game see an Ace in their hole cards and get a chub it seems like. They think Ace-rag is pretty much the pre-flop nuts which is stupid because even AA is at BEST a 4:1 favorite against any 2 random cards.

This is prob the best advice I have heard. Playing "rag" cards have there place but its very few and far between. Still as said about double bullets dont mean sh*t in Hold'em. You can have bulllets and still have the worst hand on the flop. I have been a victim of that in some cases. IMO its better to be a lucky man then it is to be a smart one.

Luck will only get you so far, SFGF, and that wont be nearly as far as skill will bring you. While it is true that playing rags that hit will often pay more than a premium hand that hits, its just does not work if you want to keep raking. Im a big fan of 8Ts, and I play it as much as I can, but I damn sure know when to throw it away, which is most of the time. And, like I said above, the situation allows different thing. Hell, I am a firm believer in playing gut feelings, and Im right most of the time. Playing rags because I had a feeling, but again, I will get out of the way if someone raises more than I feel like its worth. Position is huge in my decision making process, where will I be after the cards come down? Am I checking, or getting checked to? That's something about poker, there are no set "rules". If you listen to the pro's, read any books, everything is "most of the time", nothing is set in stone...

Well the poker wasnt to nice to me tonight. Played conservative only bidded on cards that where either Jack-Aces, open ended straights or pocket cards of the same suit.

Basically the cards didnt go my way. High bids preflop the table I got placed at had guys with atleast $300 stacks. I started with $100. To get into the flop was costing my $20. Burned through $100 real quick and bought back in with another $100. Luck was not on my side best pocket cards I got was A 10. Finally I made my mind up to play the rest and leave with my last $100. Last round I had 4 and 8 suited. Flop came and a 6 was in the flop. by this time I was down to $45 guy before me raised $15. I was just wanting to get this over so I called him since i had a possible straight. Next card was a 7 guy beside me raises it to 30 putting me all in. So I called last card comes out and it is last card drops and it a 5 guy was pissed. That brought me back to $150. Played the next 4 hands and just couldnt get anything when I got to $100 I left the table.

Planned on leaving but decided to head over to the roulette table to see If I could recoup some of my loses. So I got $100 dollar worth of chips and started going to work. When I play roulette I aways play the numbers better odds and if you play the numbers right you can make som money.

Well anyway I always play the same 5 numbers with two chips on each and then play numbers that are hitting. I play 11, 12, 14,15, and 17. Well the roulette table made me money tonight. Played a couple of rounds and nothing so I started straddling the 14 with the other numbers. Luck be with me and the 14 with a 6 to 34 payout. So that got my $100 back from pocker. So I played again and the 17 2 to 34 payout. Now I am dropping $10 a round for my bets. I figure one more hit and Im taking my small profit and leaving. Next number to hit was 15 chipped out with a $200 profit.

One thing I learned today dont go to a poker table with high stacked players hard to get established.
