Yeah, it I think it depends on the makeup of the person, as well. Larry Bird and Danny Ainge were very successful. John Lynch has been great. I would be willing to bet that Greg Olsen would be a fantastic coach/exec.

Some guys have that ability in them and some don't. Can you imagine how terrible Jordan would have been as a HC? Probably even worse than he was as a talent evaluator.

Elway had some good days too.

Oof. Actually he was largely a massive bust. Ask Denver fans.

I was under the impression that it did not end well.  Of course, there's always Matt Millen.  As President and GM/President, he was a combined 31-97-0.

Matt Millen is Scott Fitterer's spirit animal.

He must have had some great pics of the owner with a freakish carnival worker or something.   8 years?

Walterfootball.com is pretty whatever overall(Charlie Campbell is very good) but my favorite thing they do is label the worst draft picks MILLEN GRADE. It's very funny.

This contract makes him the 22nd highest avg contract among TEs with potential to be top 16.

It's a vast overpay for a guy that's most likely a third string TE at best. It's also the sort of thing the people defending it would laugh over if the Saints, Falcons, or Bucs did it.

do yourself a favor and don't even think about the cap ramifications of signing a single digit millions guaranteed two year deal. they offered to let him hit the market, they got a sense of the market, and decided it made more sense to get it done before the start of free agency.

in terms of big picture roster management, this is a nothing burger. Tremble is a perfectly acceptable player with some upside who showed a lot more once the quarterback play got more consistent. funny how that works!

he'll be either TE2 or TE 1B for the next two years. if he sees $16M, he'll have earned it and no one will complain.

move on. the real insane contracts are coming starting tomorrow.
