As for Cantwell saying he needs to play above and beyond how Jimmy Clausen plays to win the No. 2 job, Fox downplayed that notion by saying, “We don’t look at that. We don’t look at what guys make. We evaluate how guys play. We’ve had guys who made a lot (of money) and not play good and guys who haven’t made a lot and play good — so as coaches we don’t look at that. You don’t have that as part of the evaluation. The best man wins. We put them in competitive situations and whoever plays the best plays.”

Sure ya don't Foxy

Right and Fox has never shown favortism or started a guy because of money recently...

Who the hell did Fox start because of money? If you're talking about Delhomme, his contract or draft status didn't have anything to do with whether he started or not. As for favoritism...what does Fox have invested in Cantwell, that he doen't have with Clausen?

Robinson says weight not relevant, working to get back in shape

“I’m trying to get down to as low as I can and keep pushing to help this team get to where it needs to go,” Robinson said. “The main thing is being educated on how to eat and what to eat… It’s basically knowing the fats and proteins and the nutrition scale and knowing what to eat at what times and the difference between good carbohydrates and bad carbs.”

Robinson has shown flashes during recent days, making some impressive blocks on the line while working mostly with the second team.

“As far as when I’m on the field I’m going 100 miles per hour every time, all of the time,” Robinson said. “You can’t tell that I was quote-unquote out of shape or whatever, because I go hard all of the time. I have a real nasty mentality and it’s just about me taking that mentality and cleaning up my technique and progressing in this league.”

Jackson believes he has a chance to stick with the team.

“I don’t want to sound cocky or anything, but I have a lot to contribute and a lot to offer,” Jackson said. “I can be a versatile back. I’ve been blessed with speed and the ability to catch the ball.”

But Jackson realizes that he’s not about to be handed a roster spot. He’s going to have to earn it.

Gamble had an ice pack on the field Friday but did some workout.

Fox has a great team in Meeks and Baker. I loved what Meeks did with the overall D last year, and believe Fox is right for this year. There were a lot of knee issues at camp that got to me, and when you see starters not getting warm ups or scrimmages...it makes you wonder. This team will be ready for the 12th...but as I always hear, who GAS? I do, but come the 4th Pre game we'll start to know wazzup.

Brayton is going to make an impact IMHO, and I feel better about the secondary, than I did four months ago.

Here’s some quick facts on Carolina’s newly acquired offensive linemen.

OT Jason Capizzi, 27, was an undrafted rookie by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2007 and has been with six NFL teams before joining the Panthers. He’s never appeared in an NFL game, although he’s been on some practice squads. He is 6-foot-9 and 315 pounds and played college ball at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

OG Andrew Crummey was claimed off waivers from Jacksonville. He is 6-foot-5 and 301 pounds. He played in six games for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2008, but has never started.

The Panthers waived Noah Franklin and Kurtis Gregory, a pair of undrafted rookies. I mentioned earlier in camp that I didn’t expect any of the undrafted rookie offensive linemen to make this roster, so these moves hardly come as a surprise. The fact that the Panthers cut ties with them already speaks to how little they were impressed by them
