Wallace Wright has been on the first-team unit when the Panthers have gone to three wide receiver sets during practice.

Wright is a special teams ace but has caught only eight passes in his four professional seasons. This isn't a huge surprise, as Steve Smith is injured and the two favorites for the No. 3 role, Brandon LaFell and Armanti Edwards, are rookies that often have to start at the bottom of the totem pole. Don't put Wright on your sleeper list.

Didn't see this posted. Good Wallace

From the Observer:

-- Best scene of the morning: WR Kenny Moore staying engaged with his block on DT Tank Tyler about 15-20 yards downfield. It was the kind of aggressive play that earns Kenny some street cred. Tyler didn't think as much of it, however.

Not to create a firestorm, but QB Jimmy Clausen looks more and more comfortable with each passing day. He found WR Dwayne Jarrett running down a seam early, the kind of pass adult quarterbacks make.

Still don't think he pushes Matt Moore for the starting job soon, but he's clearly impressing.

Reeder's take from today...http://reederstake.freedomblogging.com/2010/08/05/ten-observations-from-thursdays-practice/5753/

I feel somewhat vindicated by this quote...

As for Cantwell saying he needs to play above and beyond how Jimmy Clausen plays to win the No. 2 job, Fox downplayed that notion by saying, “We don’t look at that. We don’t look at what guys make. We evaluate how guys play. We’ve had guys who made a lot (of money) and not play good and guys who haven’t made a lot and play good — so as coaches we don’t look at that. You don’t have that as part of the evaluation. The best man wins. We put them in competitive situations and whoever plays the best plays.”

Clausen my still end up being the #2 before it's over, but I'm convinced he will actually have to beat Cantwell fair and square on the field. Clausen is not a 1st round pick, and he didn't sign a $50million contract.

Clausen will beat Cantwell. He has too much pedigree and good mechanics not to do so. If it were not for the bad rap the media gave him, he would have been first round. I have faith in Clausen, and saying such, he will be better than Moore eventually.

What I've noticed today is.... Gamble is missing, anyone have any info of this?? Wallace wright is looking sick nasty!!! Matt Moore has thrown 2 pic 6's..

Norwood and hardy both are impressive and Edwards has made some nice catches as well. Smitty is on the sidelines and him and Deangelo were barking at norwood for being a bit to agressive lol..... Other than that it's freaking hot!!!

I'm very excited for this season , we are looking good and can't wait Till Thursday to see how we look in a game..

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.

    • Mustard BBQ sauce only. Bessingers or Melvin's BBQ sauce.  However Bessingers is the best in the world, Melvin is 2nd.    I found this article    In fact, the New York Times Magazine described the sauce as “terrifically balancing the tangs of mustard and vinegar with a wood fire's charry flavor.” While helping his dad, Joseph “Big Joe” Bessinger, as a teenager in the kitchen of the family's first restaurants, Thomas learned the secret recipe for the gold sauce – ... https://www.bessingersbbq.com › t...
