gems i saw from Darin Gnatt:

-- WR Brandon LaFell continues to impress. He's smoother than a lot of rookies, and has shown the ability to catch balls across the middle. It's easy to imagine him pushing Dwayne Jarrett for a starting job sooner rather than later.

-- RB Mike Goodson usually looks good in shorts, but had a strong afternoon in the absence of Sutton and Jonathan Stewart. He's beginning to look like a capable player, instead of just a tool-sy flag football star.

-- The Panthers really better hope DT Ed Johnson's serious about football. If he is, they may have pulled another scrap-heap find. He gets a good push inside, and should help the run defense. Curious to see how he holds up over time.

Counting FB's

Stewart

Williams

Sutton

Goodson (could be cut for the backup FB to have a spot)

Fiammetta

Jackson ( see above)

so 5 with either Goodson or Jackson being the last one in...so to speak.

I see Sutton as RB-3 and the back up FB, with the possibilty of becoming the full time FB. That also saves a roster spot for depth elsewhere.

Kinda funny given Lefell's knock was his hands, but I keep hearing how well he catches the ball. At OTA's he had some damn impressive grabs.

I now think he'll end up being the 2 with Moore 3 and Edwards 4.

Little early I know, but haven't heard anything positive about DJ yet and it's year 3 for him. We should be well beyond the "figuring it out" stage.

CB Richard Marshall is a beast on special teams. He’s so physical and strong for a guy his size. He absolutely destroyed gunner Dexter Jackson twice at the end of practice, once knocking him completely out of bounds and out of the play. That is why Marshall is a mainstay on defense. When it’s time, they need to pay this kid

Agreed JOAT. All I keep hearing is how Jarret is lining up wrong, running the wrong routes, etc. that may be expected from a rookie, but not from a guy entering his 3rd year with the team.

I expect him to know the playbook by now.

Cut him and move on.

I hope that Moore and Edwards continue to get better and shine this year. I like the thought of that much speed at WR...we have never had that type of weapon as a WR corp.

Good point... For once in all of our years as a franchise, I think one of our biggest strengths is versatility and depth. This is especially evident at the RB position - I think we'll be able to keep all of our favorite guys b/c they each have so much to offer.

As you said, Sutton can be the 3rd/4th RB and backup FB, he's like a better version of Nick Goings. I also seeing us keeping Goodson around b/c of his versatility - He can be the 3rd/4th RB and a fill-in WR/Specialty player, much like Reggie Bush is used.

So, I see RB shaking out along those lines. B/c Sutton can play FB, I think Fiametta and Jackson are battling for the starting job and the loser is cut b/c we already have Sutton to fill his role and do other things as well.

Glad to hear Goodson is looking good again, and I hope he gets a good amount of action this year.

Goodson MUST keep the ball off the turf. This fumbling issue is a little concerning.
