My all time favorite quote was when Tony Kornheiser on Monday Night Football said "Get it, you said 'he went to Jerrett'". The rest of the booth just groaned. I got a good chuckle out of it. I enjoy dry humor and bad puns if y'all couldn't tell.

i lol'd hard when he said that corny line. that was an epic failure and everyone knew but him

That was some great news about Jimmy Clausen signing before training camp and should be benificial to him as well as the Panthers.

I like Clausen and believe he can be a good NFL QB,given time. But it could be bad news if he sees the field for the Panthers this year.

Matt Moore's is definitely the Panthers starting QB and deserves at least a year, if not two, to see if he can be the QB of the future. So far i believe he's proven he can be the one...

If Matt Moore stays healthy and remains the Panthers starting QB,I can see us winning anywhere from 9 to 11 games.

9-11 games? Holy hell! Why didnt we get any primetime games then?

Very simple answer.Jake Delhomme cost the Panthers several wins before Panthers starting QB Matt Moore came in and led them to a season ending 4-1 record.

By Jakes having a Panthers career ending meltdown in Carolina, one that helped cause the Panthers to finish the season with an 8-8 record,it virtuality ruled out any chance the Panthers would be considered primetime in 2010.

I predicted a similar contract to Beason which was 5 years 12 million. Clausen as I read it will get 2.5 guaranteed and can earn another 3.8 million in incentives and also has a 2.8 million fourth year escalator for a total of 4 years- potentially 9.1 million which is around the same money if Clausen hits all of his incentives. Of course if Beason's contract was incentive laden he would have passed all the markers I figure. Still I doubt Clausen plays right away though, so he may not reach all of the incentives.

Still it all answers the question of whether a 2nd round draft pick quarterback who dropped out of the first round gets paid more than his slotted amount. And the answer is yes if you want to build in incentives if he becomes the starter and essentially outplays his contract by year 2. Fortunately Hurney was sharp enough not to overpay for potential if Clausen doesn't deliver yet put in enough incentives that he will be getting paid enough to be satisfied if he does become the starter next year.

It seems a fair contract for both sides. I wonder if this makes it more or less likely that Moore will be resigned after this year. Then again if Moore plays well he will still be a bargain at 5 or 6 million a year. Otherwise Clausen will step in for half the price.
