Weinke was a bit different as the Hiesman winner and going in the 4th. Clausen obviously wanted more guraunteed money over a bigger incentive package. I bet the Panthers were trying something similar with less guraunteed and a big carrot out there. I think Clausen knows he's not starting much or at all this season, so opted for the bigger weekly paycheck. The guraunteed money was the hold up, not the perks, IMO.

Had to be because base salary for a 4th rounder sucks, especially for a 'winner' and a household name. Weinke had to do something in order to spruce up the deal to something a prima donna ought to have been making.
