Just for fun, let's review some comments from some of last years pre season power rankings shall we (I believe this is an SI ranking)?

http://www.carolinahuddle.com/forum/carolina-panthers/19487-sis-power-rankings-what-a-joke.html

From Gscottnc5:

I don't agree with it at all.

#7 The Saints

#11 Falcons

#18 Panthers

I mean really, the Saints #7. The Panthers are better than 18. Top 12 atleast

*****

From megadeth078:

I know the huddle likes to bitch and moan about being underrated in any and every meaningless power rankings, but I got no problem with this rant. This poo is absolutely ridiculous. What could the Saints possibly have done to warrant being put ahead of not just Carolina but Atlanta also? What are they basing any of this off of, the Saints blowout of the Raiders in the preseason?

*************

From Beaux Berry:

Then again, it's been customary to proclaim the Saints as the best team in the South and a Super Bowl contender. It's not surprising they're doing it again, even after a season in which they went 8-8 with one of the league's best offenses.

From Samuel L Jackson:

Only thing I can say about it is the Saints are not better than the Falcons, and I don't think they're better than us at this point...

The Falcons should be about 8 or 9, we should be around 16-17 at this point, and the Saints should be right behind us...

******

From MadHatter:

Our offense is just as potent as the Falcons and nearly as potent in scoring as the Saints. Even with out DT issues

Our defense is still superior to either of theirs.

The experts will be all over our jocks once we come out of the gates 3-0....beating their sexy Eaglesn Flacons, and Cowboy picks.

f**k the media.

Ahhhhh.....Good Times. :)

Well, we were just as potent and good as the Falcons. And, if Delhomme had not been a human turnover machine, I still say that we would have been in the playoffs and been a dangerous team.

Oour running game was superb last season.....and with a decent QB, our passing game would have been more than solid. Without Delhomme, we were easily a top 10 offense....and would have been significantly more potent than the Falcons.

Can't change the past, so we may as well stop talking about it and guessing what Matt may have done. Jake is gone, Moore is starting from the get go, and our team is young and inexperienced in many places. Let the nervousness commence.

If we are 22nd....they are no where near 8th.

QB that had a good rookie year and then regressed.

RB that has taken a beating the past few seasons....Carolina running game is better.

OL that is not as good as ours.

WR's that are equal to ours.

Defense that is probably equal to ours at best.

I love that they are 8th. Makes it more enjoyable when they once again screw the pooch and miss the playoffs.

They're WR's are more proven and they have a HoF TE. Their Defense at Best wouldn't be equal to our either, it'd be better.

They aren't 14 spots better than we are but they are better as of now.
