E. Brown's job in danger?

McClover was released/waived by Houston after he shredded his knee in the 2008 preseason opener.

I don't know if he's in anyone's camp trying to make a comeback or if he just hung it up. Met his folks at BOA couple years ago- really nice folks and really proud of their son. Genuinely nice people.

They resigned him prior to last season and the put him back on Injured reserve or waived him in August of last year. I don't think he's on a team right now though.

E. Browns job in danger? Hmmm, his job... Last year he was a back-up. soooo his job as a back-up is in danger? I honestly doubt that.

To understand E. Brown you really have to take a look at our front office. He was selected when Peppers was giving us problems with his contract. I am certain Brown was taken as an emergency insurance in case Peppers held out or to put some kind of unspoken pressure on Julius. It was not best player available like we normally have so much faith in.

Secondly, we give away our first round picks at almost any given chance. I believe the front office does this for a reason. First round picks are over valued and the money you have to pay out for an unproven talent is pretty incredible. I would put good money on us moving out of the first round again next year. Most likely to gain a lost second round pick and solidify our late rounds.

If it were up to me, Id have Johnson starting at LDE where he's always been playing and have Brown starting at RDE where he played last year and make Brayton the backup. Cause right now Johnson is starting at RDE and hardy and Brown play RDE too. So we really have 3 RDEs and 1 LDEs. But whatever. If thats they way Fox likes it, so be it.

Because of Hardy's size, I figure they'll stick him at LDE for now. Johnson the starter at RDE with Brown being the backup there.

Passing Downs would look like this I think

Irvin, Brayton at DT

Brown / Johnson being the main guys with Hardy and maybe some Norwood rotating in at DE.

Brown is not in danger of getting cut at all. When was the last time we got rid of a second rounder in year 2? If Jarrett is still here, brown is safe as can be.

I really doubt Brown starts for us though. He is not very fundamentally sound particularly in the run game. Brayton is a much better option against the run and is decent against the pass. What alot of folks don't realize is that with a 4-3 under and over, the nose tackle play over the center. There is usually a DT and DE to the strong side which most of the time was Pepper's side last year. That allows them to often be singled up on an offensive lineman and opportunities for a sack or penetration.

The nose tackle and the DE on the weak side have to take on 3 guys and on run plays with the FB leading or a lineman pulling, 4 guys.

There is no way Brown could start on the left side of the defense occupied by the mauler right side offensive tackles and really Johnson is better used on the right side of the defense where he can use his speed to get around the corner but he still can hold the edge.

I could see Brown definitely coming in on third downs along with hardy and playing either side. Because the emphasis is on speed and getting to the quarterback rather than holding the edge and being solid in run defense on running plays and short yardage downs.

I like Everette, i think he has some skills, but needs to get better suited to the NFL (size mainly). plus he seems like a legit nice guy that richardson loves, he also seems to have a high motor and good work ethic.

But the real issue is, who can blame Brown for hurney trading a 1st rd pick for him?

thats not his fault, nor should he be judged b/c of it. but he will always be tied to that decision unfortunately.
