The Panthers Bought The Hype!!!

Bama Panther

Take a look at this quote from Jordan Gross.

On what happened after the first drive: Without seeing the tape, that first drive kind of summed up how we thought the game would go. We went right down the field, scored, ran the ball well.

The first drive is how they "thought the game would go." That reeks of overconfidence, which is vastly different from confidence.

It seems that the Panthers believed what many in the media were saying all week. They believed that the Cardinals should just be happy to be there. They believed that they would not have to fight for the game.

Maybe that first drive was the worst thing that could have happened last night.

I think he is just sayin that they expected to play at a high level and win the game in convincing fashion.

Then the 2nd quarter happened.

hell- We all bought the hype- I did. I was confident. I was worried about our defense, but I NEVER would have thought Jake was going to throw 5 INT's

I don't buy that for one second, AK. When you intend to play the game at a high level, you make comments like, "We were going to fight for every yard," and "We were going to work harder than the other team." You don't say that you expected the game to be like your 5-play, 50 yard opening drive that put 7 on the board with ease.

There is a big difference, and I think the Panthers crossed the fine line between confidence and arrogance.
