Bobcats Expected to Make Offer for Paul...

New Jersey and Charlotte are known to be among the many teams that would make offers for Paul. Some league sources believe New Orleans would insist that Hornets center Emeka Okafor, who has four years and $52 million left on his contract, be included in any deal for Paul.

Of all the teams discussed Orlando and Charlotte seem to have the most to offer. Sure Orlando has Nelson and Carter's expiring contracts, but we have Damp's and more young talent (Hendo, DJ) that we can package to New Orleans. We also be one of the only teams that would be able to take Okafor's contract on and actually need him. New York cant, and i don't believe Orlando would have a spot for him with Dwight. Believe it or not, we make the most sense. FTW

CP3 would be great addition. I just cant see a trade with the Hornets and Paul that doesn't involve Jackson or Wallace. If we can avoid those 2 than I am all for it. I am huge fan of CP3. I think either him or Nash is the best PG in the L.

He's not going anywhere other than Orlando and NY. He isn't trying to get out of NO for the heck of getting out of NO. He is trying to get out to:

A. Go to a bigger market (which Charlotte is not)

B. Go to a championship contender (Still not..even with Paul)

C. Go to a team willing to pair him with a few other superstars (Melo isn't leaving Denver for Charlotte I can guarantee that)

D. Go to a team willing to spend way over the luxury tax to bring in superstars (Jordan reportedly is not there with his willingness).

So in short...I'd love for CP3 to come back home and actually make something happen in Charlotte. But other than the fact that NO is a dump of a city and Charlotte is actually very nice...there is very little difference between the two teams right now. I expect him to be a Knick before the beginning of the season.

I agree with most of what you are saying, but the Knicks aren't a championship contender unless they get some more players.

Also, I think it is quite possible Charlotte would be the 3 or 4 seed if they keep Wallace and Jax:

CP

Jax

Wallace

TT

Oke

I have no idea what the bench would look like, though I expect it would be fairly shallow. A package for CP would have to include this:

Dampier;

Nazr or Boris, and possibly a combination of both;

DJ;

Gerald Henderson or Derick Brown, but probably not both and maybe not either;

Future draft picks.

If CP and Oke count 25 mil in salary and the Bobs need to send that much back to make this work, Damp, Nazr, and Boris would make the numbers work out (though I am telling you guys that you will miss Boris more than you know). That would leave a bench of:

Livingston

Hendo

Carroll

Larry Hughes (pencil him in for now)

Derick Brown

McGuire

Diop (yikes)

Najero

That is 13 players with 2 more spots open which would probably be filled with another big and another swing- Stephie Graham for example.

The biggest problem with this bench is how high up the depth chart Diop would then be.

orlando and portland are small market teams in case you didn't know, as far as the lux tax jordan has said in a number of interviews he would be willing to go over the tax if it puts the team in place to compete for the top spots in the east(not just 5-8 seed) he is not willing to spend money just to be doing something(ala new york)

wow word for word exactly what needed to be said.... I love Chris Paul he is my favorite NBA player, but he isn't coming to Charlotte unless we can guarantee Melo is coming as well....which isn't happening. Sorry guys the Bobcats aren't going to get him

He wants to play with another championship contender and as we saw last year in the playoffs the Bobcats are far from that. Yes New York isn't immediately a contender but with Amare a good supporting cast and possibly Melo. I think that team would beat the Heat

You're too caught up in names and reputations.

Anyone who doesn't believe that a lineup of Paul, Jackson, Wallace, Thomas, and Okafor could challenge the Miami Heat in the East is clueless.

The Bobcats destroyed the Heat (Wade) and the Cavaliers (James) last season. Heat beat the Bobcats ONCE, and that was the Bobcats second game of a back-to-back. They swept the Cavaliers.

What the heck makes you all think the Bobcats couldn't challenge James, Wade, and Bosh if you add Paul and Okafor to the lineup and replace Diaw with Thomas?

My only concern would be that Paul, Wallace, and Okafor are injury-prone.

Including Wallace (or Jackson) in the deal defeats the purpose.

also it's very likely he would just demand a trade once we traded for him. that appears to be his MO.

Some of you people really need to think.

Do you really believe that Chris "Jordan Brand" Paul is going to waltz into Michael Jordan's office and DEMAND that Michael Jordan trade him?

If anything, Jordan and Paul being on the Bobcats could increase Paul's marketability with Nike. Jordan's ownership of the Bobcats should already be pointing the team in that direction, if used correctly.

His affiliation with Jordan brand is completely separate from his desire to play for a contender.

Even with CP3 I'm not sure the Bobcats would be better than the Celtics, Magic, Heat, Hawks etc. That makes them a 5 seed and that's not exactly title contending.

You don't know much.

His "AFFILIATION" with Jordan Brand was not the point of that post.

THINK...again.

    • I find it more like now that I have been forced to watch Young so much it isn’t as much of a shock to my senses.   Desensitized they call it.   For real, it just looks normal almost now. Where the first game of 2023 I wasn’t sure what I was looking at it was so out of bounds for NFL type play. I literally couldn’t make sense of what I had seen vs Atlanta that first week.
    • Lynch in SF. Great is subjective but he has done pretty well there.
    • Sure, except Stroud has the ability to stretch the field with deep passes. He did that often last night with ease, but couldn’t connect on many due to being flustered by the defense. BY9 gets flustered and can’t throw screens, let alone even think about any deeper passes. Stroud would’ve changed the franchise and done more with the situation last year. My thought at least.    the hope is that last year showed tepper that he needed to step back from football decisions. There’s a positive in most situations and maybe we’ll see a new tepper in the near future.
