I'm rewatching Season 3 right now and the comparison is extremely obvious even down to their names.

I can see the comparison. Just like when J.D. joined the (Dillon) Panthers Everyone wrote off the more experienced but not as highly regarded Matt.

I just hope Jimmy isn't a total douche like JD is on the show

Haha, and Coach Eric Taylor (John Fox) being a great coach but pushed out of his job because idiotic fans moan and cry over non-perfect seasons so the Panthers hire Joe McCoy (Bill Cowher) who ends up not being the oh-so-perfect god-send... etc.

I could make up comparisons all day, however the ones you guys mentioned are fairly intriguing.

Jake Delhomme was no Jason Street though, a broken finger doesn't compare to paralysis of your lower half. Nor did Delhomme have the reputation of dominance that Street had.

I actually feel like its gotten better..I like the twist they're using this season with having Coach Taylor going to a struggling school, even though its unrealistic that THAT many players would be so bad at the new school if they just split the original high school up.

I was just mentioning to a friend that since this next year will be the show's last season, Vandy's president should be on a plane down to Dillon for a meeting with Coach Taylor. I think he looks and talks like Derek Dooley.
