If you are religious and go to church I would think church would be much more important to go to than a football game. If not, why do you go to church to begin with?

normally during the season our church has shorter services just so people can go and enjoy themselves. we are big on fun and fellowship and the games fit both.

I do feel guilty missing church during home games but for those of us that get to our seats on time there is an Invocation before the National Anthem by a local clergy/pastor.

this. a large reason christians believe churchgoing is important is the fellowship factor, rather than the actual act of listening to the message... football games serve rather well in this function. my church finishes at 12pm, which leaves plenty of time for everyone to scramble to the nearest sports bar, or grab some brewskies and meet up at someone's house.

You can go to church anytime. Football season is a short magical time. Besides, I pray so much at a game its like being in church anyway!

All I wanted to do was get to the tailgate and my friend would make me go to his church and wait for him to get out at like 1030AM. There I was in this parking lot dressed for the game and all these people would come out and give me looks of death for my troubles.

We get to the lot at 11AM, tailgate for less than an hour and a half and that was it, sucked.
